18 shots, 8 on target for the Bianconeri: 9 for Catania, none of which brought a save from Buffon. Catania v Juventus was very one-sided indeed. The visitors outplayed their opponents in every department. The Sicilian side played well, confirming their strength at home, with Juve “only” managing 53% of possession. The men from Turin were the better team however: the Bianconeri had a pass completion rate of 71% against 65.4% for Maran’s men, while they recorded more than 13 minutes of territorial dominance.
The team’s stastistics reflect good individual performances. Pirlo as ever was the key man in midfield, finding a team-mate on 79 occasions. Chiellini (54), Vidal (51), Bonucci (49) and Pogba (42) also registered good numbers in terms of passing. The only Rossoblu player to make it into the game’s top 5 passers was Lodi, with the same number as Vidal. Lodi was also the only player from the hosts to warrant a mention when it came to attempts on goal. Vidal tried his luck on 4 occasions, more than any other player. Lodi had 3 shots, the same number as Bendtner and Pogba, while Bonucci and Pirlo followed with 2 each.
If there were any lingering doubts over which team bossed the game, here are the stats on the balls retrieved. Chiellini leads the way for the Bianconeri with 22, the same number as Catania goalkeeper Andujar, undoubtedly the Rossoblu’s best performer on the day.
