Not doubting cassano's ability, but the boy seriously has a attitude problem off the pitch, he's not professional at all. I understand he's frustrated with the lack first team action he's getting but there has to be a reason for it. He will bring a bad vibe if he comes to us. But on his day the boy is class. Would he be worth the risk on a free?
Agree.

BTW, today Cassano's agent said he's not going to leave Madrid. I read it in As. Anyway what Gep said is totally true and I don't think he would like to come.

I see people are comparing Cassano to Zlatan and knowing the recent fiasco we had with an arrogant child, I can understand why most of you aren't eager to get Cassano.

However, the circumstances are very very different. It was Zlatan's first experience at a top club and despite the fact that he's still an idiot today, he may change tomorrow. Cassano already got several chances, this may very well be his last and he's more than aware of that. If, like I said, he wants to save his career he has to grab it with both hands.

Real Madrid ready to sell Cassano Wednesday 27 December, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Real Madrid have valued Antonio Cassano at £2.8m, less than the £3.5m spent in January to bring the striker to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The ex-Roma man seems close to definitely ending his adventure with the Merengues, despite the player’s agent Giuseppe Bozzo reiterating that his client was eager to remain in Spain.

Real Madrid’s former President Florentino Perez had signed Cassano in January, when the Bari-born player moved from Roma in a £3.5m deal, but the Spanish giants may now consider the idea of accepting a £2.8m offer, according to the newspaper Marca.

The club is in fact ready to let the player leave following his latest exclusion from the team, after he was caught on camera imitating Coach Fabio Capello.

“Cassano is a good lad, but he sometimes acts without thinking,” said sporting director Predrag Mijatovic to the Periódico de Catalunya.

“We only want players on our side who are committed to this outfit. If someone does not understand this, we will have to look for another club that can offer more than Real Madrid,” added the former Fiorentina striker.

“We make the contracts and we respect them, and we ask our players to give their all on the pitch,” concluded Mijatovic.

The only Italian side who has shown an interest in Cassano’s services is Milan, although the Rossoneri do not seem keen on confirming the player’s £2.8m per-season deal. The striker, however, may agree to a lower wage in order to leave Spain, as there do not seem to be any margins to repair the rift with the club’s management.

Cassano's only an option if he's free. There are a lot of risks involved and he's still a huge bet if we get him without paying for it.

i dont know about the "chip on his shoulder" case being that he was on a world class team and still things dont work out in terms of him and the club. his unhappiness will follow him anywhere he goes since madrid was not able to keep him happy.

in terms of bringing him here for free or a cheap rate i still believe that it will bring no good to our club. plus that doesnt really entice trez to stay IMO

I'll take Cassano if he is THAT cheap. Even Baiocco cost more than 4m and he was doomed to be failure.

Beside, I would like to see majority of the transfer budget spent on getting a quality stopper (Barza, Felipe, Rafinha would do), and some creative light in the midfield (VDV). 4m isnt a lot of money, and I would be satisfied with just signing up Cassano for strengthening attack. Personally, I reckon Cassano better talent than Tevez, and I would like see how he respond to Del Piero's tutelage. The thing I like about Alex is not so much about his talent per se, but his professionalism, and if there is a person who can make player out of Tonio than it is Alex. I say try to low ball Real with an initial loan deal plus buy out clause which varies corresponding to Cassano's performance on the pitch. This should also give the player to try his best in new environment and perhaps carve out career.

If Cassano can play deeper as a creative attacking midfielder, that would be great. And if not...he'd be a good replacement for DP on the pitch, despite lack of professionalism. Hell, even that might get better at Juve. Loan deal plan sounds good. :agree:

If he comes on the cheap and lowers his wage demands then hey, why not give this fool a runout for some games, see how he does..

If he sucks we ship him to Siena :agree:
