I'm starting to think a big reason for that could've been the way Conte played him. The whole team was toothless in Europe and we didn't seem to have a plan when attacking.

Interesting comment by Sacchi. Baggio was immense, but so is Tevez.
I saw the interview, and Sacchi's point was that they are pretty much equals when it comes to attacking talent/forward play, but what makes Tevez the better player is that he also tracks back and works hard for the midfield and defense. That there's simply more to his game.

Same with Mancini at City. City as a whole was absolutely terrible in Europe during Tevez's time there. He just wasn't provided service. And I'm pretty sure his one season there as he only really played for them in 1 CL season, they had that group of death. Real Madrid< Dortmund, Ajax. Tevez only started 3 games, and was a sub in 2 others. So he played in 6 games in total in CL and only 3 as a starter for City. @Hist
His European performance for city is much more a case of hardly any playing time in Europe, rather than poor performance.

Tevez is just too good for us. Maybe he is not top of the top tier class in forwards...but he is pretty fucking close to it...and like sacchi said... his workload as a forward is world class and UNMATCHED. This characteristic alone is pretty unique to Tevez.

Llorente has been simply terrible this season, but in 13-14 he was very good. He doesn't really suit Allegri's style of football. So I won't be shocked if he's cut loose at seasons end.

Sure I don't disagree with that. City being shit is ofcoarse a great part of it but I'd note that he wasn't seen as a solution though because his performances went down heavily with them. Some players however are so good that they keep bringing the ruckus even while the rest of the team screws up.
Tevez has rediscovered himself with us. Last season he rediscovered himself in the league and this season he kept up the good form in the league and rediscovered himself in Europe. He wasn't as good as he is now for a long time with City and thats why the idiots saw him as surplus to requirements instead of making sure he finds good form again.

Tevez doesn't seem the player to transcend the situation of the club he is at. IE. His last two years at ManCity. But in a settled team, with a good coach, and good mindset, he's one of the best players in the world.
He's a passionate, emotional, fiery guy. Off-field issues and team nonsense likely affect him more than many.
