He was greatness in Lazio, but I'd rather have Padoin start at LWB than the Man. City version of Kolarov.
Like the 2010-11 version of Pirlo? Like the 2010-11 Barzagli? :)

Brushing him off as a two-bit mid table hack? You've got a lively imagination, yeah? Who said anything about that? Also, why would we want to collect players from the 2006 WC winning squad, when we're headed for 2013-2014?

Bud, Padoin and Isla don't typically play the role/position that DDR does. He is a very, very good player, but we have both Pogba, and Asabob who should be getting games in central midfield. Both are box to box, we don't need to add DDR for 20M+ or whatever, plus huge wages (For Serie A). It just doesn't make sense, it would be excessive, and stunt the growth of some young, quality players who the club invested in last year, guys who have earned playing time, and are much more affordable.

If we want to upgrade the midfield, the way to do it would be to add a true LWB. Thing is, I really appreciate Asamoah as a player, and for now the only way he's going to get any time right now is at LWB; I don't really see a purchase of a Kolarov, etc., I think Beppe/Conte will spend the money elsewhere. We'll see.
DDR would start over Marchisio or Pogba imo... Vidal-Pirlo-De Rossi

And when we are facing Man Utd with RVP and Rooney, while Chiello is out injured, would you be at ease with Peluso in his stead?

You fear he will be rotated? SO we shouldn't have signed any high profile forwards?
Have you seen ogbonna in the past season? He was pretty awfu and I do believe that peluso could cover rvp.
I don't scared because of rotation, I scared that he could start to cry because of lack of gametime

    He wont get rotated.
Llorente is the one who should be careful
But but "vucinic is the most talented player in the team"

Peluso is cack at CB, Ogbonna will be much better. We are playing 3 man defense and we only have 3 true CBs. Caceres and Peluso are not true CBs. Ogbonna is vital.

Alright, if you think he's not good enough, that's one thing. But to say we shouldn't sign him because he would be wasted on the bench, I can't agree with.

I meant no offence mate, was just being a bit facetious. I still think that if DDR becomes available and is itching to leave Roma it would be increadibly foolish for us to not even give it some consideration. Fyi Padoin and Isla both at times played at either RWB or RCM, obviously DDR isn't going to be used at RWB (between Licht, Caceres, Pepe and Giak at a stretch we've got that covered), as I said before, DDR could play in any 3 of the central midfield positions and any three of the center back positions also; great versatility and impressive in all those positions.

I'm thinking we need to think of life after Barzagli, acquiring DDR would help with that transition somewhat as Barzagli is begging to feel the rigours of being playing constantly (hence his achilles issues). Our experience in the CL was once our starting lineup was compromosed, our depth was an issue, yes we could bring Pogba or Caceres off the bench, Giak has proven useful both here and with the Nazionale, and Asah as you rightly say is a very apt box-to-box player. However, having someone of De Rossi's character and ability to slot in anywhere in the central midfield or defense, and to do so with such quality and ability, isn't something to be ignored. In the end the Padoins of the world aren't going to cut it for us when our CL opponents have the likes of Kagawa, Kaka, Coentrao, Thiago, Fabregas, Robben, Luis Gustavo, Javi Martinez or Claudio Pizzaro sitting on their respective benches. DDR would be invaluable in this regard.

I agree, we do need to sell a few players and it is one of the only legitimate criticism people may have of Marotta (his inability to sell), but when the opportunity arises to sign a world class player like Tevez, you need to take it.
    :agree:
Hence my point, if it applies to Tevez why not De Rossi?

Matri & Quag were benched because they couldn't maintain form and Mirko had consistent game time becaause he & gio were the only sources of creativity so one always had to play.

But to say Tevez will be rotated is just....I mean...unless he has fitness issues or strategic for yellow card accumulation no way will this guy get benched unless its the Coppa.

Jesus this thread is going to be the next Giovinco thread. Heard it here first.

Don't worry RUS, Tevez is a WC player and in this team, and in this shitty league there is absolutely no way he would fail......unless he goes apeshit crazy and decides to go back home of course.

Relax, and once September comes enjoy the Tevez show.
What's the worse that can happen? He flops and we've lost 12mil and wages? Imagine if it was Higuain or Jojo that fail miserably for a fee of 30mil. There are a lot more upsides to this signing then there is downsides.

    Is he injury-prone?
