Chiellini close to new deal Friday 4 June, 2010

Juventus centre-back Giorgio Chiellini is reportedly close to signing a new contract with the Turin giants.

The 25-year-old Italy international has been in negotiations for some time as he currently earns far less than the club's other established stars.

Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Chiellini's agent Davide Lippi has reached an agreement with Juventus to increase his salary to between €3m and €3.5m a season.

Chiellini has always been committed to Juventus, although he did recently admit that there are few certainties at the club right now.

He has attracted interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid, but such speculation should come to an end once he signs a new deal.

Chiellini is widely regarded as the future of Juventus together with Claudio Marchisio.
