Manchester City In 13 Million Euro Chiellini Bid?

The Giorgio Chiellini saga has taken a new twist with the news that Manchester City have reportedly bid 13 million euros for the young Juventus defender...

Despite already buying Real Sociedad's Garrido and Dinamo Zagreb's Vedran Corluka, Sven-Goran Eriksson isn't quite done in the defence market yet.

Reports have surfaced indicating that the Swedish coach has lined up a 13 million euro bid for Juventus' Giorgio Chiellini, the highly-rated young left-back.

The player's agent has recently said that his client would be interested in such a move and now, with City's interest apparently concrete, he could yet start the season in the Premiership.

13 million euros is the highest offer yet to be attributed to the big-spending Blues, whose coffers overflow thanks to the input of new chairman Thaksin Shinawatra, but it may not be enough. Juve are apparently after 15 million.

However, with targets of their own, the Old Lady could be under pressure to accept, lest City take their money elsewhere. Juventus are apparently looking for transfer income to fund potential moves for the likes of Claude Makelele, Gabriel Heinze and Fernando Meira.

If Chiellini leaves I'm very mad at Secco. What is the point of selling one of the best defensive talents of Italy and the u21 captain, who can cover 2 postions?I don't get it.

If he was saying he wants to stay and fight for his place I could understand - you were the guy forcing the issue on Boumsong's loyalty!

If a player like Chiellini thinks he should get Buffon cash and a guaranteed place and complains publicly himself and through his agent regardless of potential he's got to go.. Esp since he's one of the few assets we have we can get some actual cash for (compared to Legro etc..)

As a CB Chiellini can aspire to be another Materazzi in a few years nothing more..

and Pasqual is a far superior Italian left back, even Grosso..
Yes he isnt going to be one of the greats , that's for sure, but juve need him for now . Unless juve get quality players to replace him our defense will be even more rubbish than it is now .
