Penalty shoot-outs have very little to do with finishing skills etc. The mental state of a player is the most important asset. You know.. keeping the head kool.
Only when you reach a certain level of skill. Chiellini contributes to the team in his own physical way. With the ball however, he is slightly less talented than the average central defender playing for the local pub team. I can see why scoring a penalty is not an easy feat for him.

I was shocked looking at him heading to take the penalty. How come a professional coach who is paid millions make a choice which an average football fan can tell is laughable.
yeah i think so too. i remember hearing players say they stepped up to take penalties because their teammates didnt have the nerve to do it at the last second.
