screw the judiciary, invest in education, health care. killing does not solve those problems. usa have death penalty but the hoods as well. being a gangsta is cool. if i shoot another gangsta from another hood i'll be even cooler. preventions does not help .
just by reading your last sentance, i'm not even gonna reply to that post.. :lazy:

in fact, they do lower crime rates... check your sources.

I lived in Saudi Arabia and they have one of the lowest murder and rape rates in the world. we do implement capital punishment.
I remember seing numbers from other countries, the US being one of them, do you know the numbers from any other countries? I mean, there could be other factors in Saudi Arabia that influence the low crime rates (religion, poverty levels, level of police force among some).

Invest in getting the police high tech stuff so they can catch people better. Invest in getting better jails. Invest in police's salaries. Make sure that when everyone does a crime they pay for it. Exaggerate with the penalties. If you kill someone then you get 50 years in jail. That way people will be scared to do it

Well for poor countries its way more efficient death penalties but I dont believe a developed country should apply that, they have enough money to invest in security

so they should apply the death penalty more often....

BTW, the death penalty isn't even implemented that often in the us.
only Texas implements it as much as it was meant to.

Just the fact that the police does their job helps decrease the rates. I live in a city with like 50 deaths per weekend, but in the district where I live the mayor has made sure that there is a police everywhere at all times, now every weekend this district has no deaths.

Indeed fabi.

As a fact: only one thing can scared people from commiting crimes: if they are sure, that they will be caught.
They definitely will think twice, when they will have that certainty, that they will get caught.
If punishment is very hard, but the certainty, that they will be caught is lower, they are not scared.

----------------------------------

If you ask me about capital punishment: I cant decide, if I support it or no.
I dont think it's the best way of punishing, but sometimes, when some crimes are utterly cruel, disgusting - arghhh... :(

the prisoners get their food for exchange for the work they are obligated to do when in jail

no crime is perfect. you're bound to make a mistake. it's human nature. you will get caught sooner or later even if it takes many years

If theyre horrible crimes, then they'll have to pay in a horrible way. Getting in jail in an isolated cabin without being able to see the sunlight for the rest of their life

And how are the murder rates compared to other states? (honest question).

People who steel so much would get their arms cut off in Saudi Arabia too. but only if it's above a certain predefined value....

but keep in mind that it's not on the spot. there are trials and there must be many witnesses or a confession from the murdered (as long as he's an adult and he's sane).

If the slightest possibility that the convicted person didn't do the crime, then there won't be any chopping.
Majed, in Saudi Arabia, isn't it true that the family of the dead person has a say as to the punishment of the convicted murderer...if they say they do not want the killer executed then the court will consider their wishes?

that's what i thought earlier. but then i remember seeing this movie: Murder in the First

and now i know that doing that would be as equaling sick as killing somebody

    That's not truth dj.
The worst thing is, that MANY of them will be never caught.
    So they feel safe.

They could be, but they never will be fabi, cause of one reason: HUMAN RIGHTS.

Sometimes it's becoming ridiculous, how much they protect criminal and how less normal people.
