what else is there to judge? the criminal committed murder, actually took someone else's life; doesnt matter for what reason. murder has no justification
That's rather a strong position! If it has no justification, answer this:
Why do we kill people who kill people to teach people that killing people is wrong?

And what about innocents who get wrongly sentenced to death? It happens time and time again

what I meant was, murder is still wrong no matter what, even for whatever reason. some people pointed out that death penalty shouldnt be exercised seeing that some criminals committed murder unintentionally or something like that. In instances like self defence I agree, it shouldnt, but if it meant murder was 'unintentional' - say - committed because of jealousy and such, I completely disagree. In that sense, there is no justifying murder. An error of judgment or a momentary lapse of sanity is no excuse, murder is still murder. death penalty isnt 'murder', its a punishment for it

Erik, how is that related to death penalty? I am merely expressing my opinion that I think death penalty is the fairest punishment for criminals. A wrongly convicted person will still have to face either life imprisonment or death penalty, and neither is better than the other in that situation because the person's innocent. Whom the court prosecutes or which punishment should be used for certain crimes is a different matter imo

I hate the death penalty. It's evil and only God has right to judge us.
Killing of all form is wrong!

Look, leading to his/her death penalty the criminal has the time to repent anyway. I just regard death penalty as the consenquence for one's mistake, and I think it is the fairest punishment for the criminal who have hurt lots of people deeply. In the case of murder, I dont care if it was a crime of passion or if the murderer was some psychopath serial killer, anyone capable of such crimes, I'd like to see them hanged.
what is a harder punishment? geting died with the death penalty, or living for the whole live in prison knowing, that you will never go out.??

Wrong. When a person turns out to be innocent; he will be released from jail and given a sum of money to restart his life. When the person is dead; that's hardly possible, is it? Then the state has taken the life of an innocent person for no reason.

So murder has no justification. Then again you do believe the death penalty is a correct sentence. Is it me or do those two things contradict?

I do not believe that the death penalty is a form of murder, but is a form of punishment. murder is the unlawful killing of somebody. death penalty is not that.

You just said there's no justification for murder. Now you go on and say that the death penalty is the lawful killing of someone. Meaning murder with justification.

I'll get a lot of flak for saying it, but an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth is justice. Anything less is mercy.
I cannot agree on this.

This rule (an eye for an eye...) is a form of archaïc justice. It was the only rule that was used by prehistoric people. You kill a man of my clan; we kill a man of your clan,... rather dull. How can this really resolve a solution?

A society goes wrong, when people actually have the authority to sit together and discuss whether a man should live or not.
The state might tell you how to live, and punish you if you don't follow the rules, eventually taking you out of the society (putting you in prison).

But no living man has the right to decide whether one should live or not.

To have a full debate on this, I should prepare it properly, read a lot of stuff, and take the time to write it down.
Time that I don't have right now.

not just that, what bothers me the most is,when people say things like this "hang him" " he deserves to die" withouth knowing any shit about the suspect/criminal. and all their judmenet based on reading some piece from a magazine or a newspaper.
and some others go to street with slogans "kill him" "hang him" that's what I call evil, people always like to see deaths bloods violence etc..

I hate it when people Judge each others
That actually makes me think of the biblical scene where Jesus, after being judged by Pilatus, is being presented to the people. They have the right to choose to free him, or a convicted criminal.

And of course they all go: "Barabas, Barabas, ..."

But i'm sorry, I shouldn't mention rligious items in here I guess...
