It's really hard to say who is better, Capello, Mourinho or Benitez. I think that Capello is the best in turning a superstar-filled team into winners. Don't forget that Chelsea has many good players, but almost none of the calibre of Shevchenko, Vieira or Aimar. I doubt those players would accept the constant squad rotation. But Mourinho is the best tactician in the world, it may not look much but he totally outclassed every other EPL manager last season.
oh my dear god: terry, makelel, lampard, robben, duff, crespo and they have no stars? the list keeps going shaun wright philips, the new left back, huth dunno but they're all stars

well said...!!!
We can not really determine who is the best coach since there are so many things we have to calculate together with the final results,
statistics may give an idea, but many times they hide the real situation,
different times, dif players, dif tactics, suspensions, unpreddictable injuries, awesome individual acts in the field that any coach cant perceive, plan or react may all alter the final result/succes and the coach es plans.

We can only judge by our personal point of view/feel and estimations...

They are not stars. Players like Huth and Wright-Philips are good players, but they are not certain to start for their national team, and are willing to take part in squad rotation. There is no way that for instance Beckham would be willing to sit on the bench for a year. There is a difference between good players and world starts, the players who's names kids put on their shirt, the players who make people come to the stadium.

Fabio Capello is the best coach the game has ever seen. Football is about winning titles and at that he is simply the most succesful coach in the world. He has won titles with ALL the teams he coached. Who else can claim to have such a fantastic record?? He is the master of coaching. He is great at reading the opponents tactics and fielding the right 11 according to the needs of each seperate game. In football there are no two matches alike and Capello is great at having the best approach to every seperate match. Heis a tactical genious who has the best soccer knowledge of all the coaches in the world. Just read his interviews carefully and you'll realise how smart he really is.

He has won it all, Scudetti, CL... Last season he took a broken Juventus side, found the best players for the team (Cannavaro, Emerson, Ibrahimovic, etc.) and turned it into a Scudetto winning team and reached the quarterfinals in CL where he only lost out to Liverpool who would later turn out to be the champions... He has an incredible ability to make everyone in the team comfortable both mentally and physically. He knows how to go the extra mile in the player market and integrate his new signings into the team and make them gel with the rest of players.

Top 3 of best coaches in the world:

1. Capello
2. Mourinho
3. Benitez

I rank Capello second after Jose Mourinho.

Wenger and Ferguson are not even in their league.

Mourinho is the undisputed nr 1 IMO.
are we talking about careers here?If so,that's stupid thing to say.what Ferguson did in his career, you can't compare it with Mourinho,or even Capello, am sure Mourinho is a great coach, but give him more time to prove that he is better than those he mentioned

that was kinda harsh Kaiser, ofcourse coaches have major roles for the rsults of the teams, and so do players, club directors, doctors etc..
it's not that easy to win like that,to bring super stars in the team and win every game,Real Madrid for example?Chelsea in Europe?..
Capello is doing a great job,he deserves the credit for that.

Look, it all boils down to this : coaches don't win games, players do. Coaches can only lose games by making stupid mistakes, and for the money they earn, they simply shouldn't be allowed to make them.

His tactics doesn't fit the EPL really but he is regarded as 1 of the best coaches ard in Europe and in the La Liga. Too bad he chose to leave Valencia, I really like him when he was there.

Yeah that was quite an achievement wasn't it? Buy one of the best Italian ergo World defenders around, add one of the most consistent mids and top it off with arguably the most promising attacker around. Congratulations : you are a genius. Of course the rest of the team was just serie B material, just like the Milan of the Invincibles in the early 90's, that oh so piss poor Real Madrid to which he felt necessary to add Suker, Mijatovic & co, or a Roma with tens of millions to waste at the time (still took him 3 years to win something there though, and when Sensi's purse started leaking he decided to leave....ummm I wonder why?)

Kind of harsh, but speaks the truth. These buys were not players Capello found, I'd like to thank Moggi for buying them. And yes, players win games...I'd like to see Capello coaching Reggina.

Of course football matches are mainly decided by the performances of the 11 players who enter the pitch and the subs brought on during the game. But don't underestimate the importance of the coach´s motivating skills and tactical lineups, rehearsed running patterns, etc.

Deciding the formation which is needed against a certain opponent is crucial. 4-4-2 or 4-3-3? Could decide the result of the game. This is one of the things Fabio Capello really masters well.

Or another example: A team plays a horrendous first half and is losing 2-0 in half time. Obviously a big reprimande in the dressing room is needed to ressurect the team's chances of winning the game. That reprimande is in many cases the difference between succes and failure. Not to mention tactical substitutions. Those can change a match's outcome as well.

Therefore I'd say it is probably 70-90% the players who decide a football match. The remaining 10-30% is the coach and his staff.

Id rate fabio highly, but someobody once said:

A good coach doesnt add much to a great team, but a bad coach can take away so much from a great team.

I tend to agree. Capello is without doubt a competent coach, and isnt taking away anything from this team.
