Category: General

Fabio Capello, despite injury concerns over Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is confident Juventus can progress past Werder Bremen in the Champions League.

The Serie A leaders lost the first leg of their last 16 tie 3-2 in Bremen, but the tactician is optimistic ahead of Tuesday’s clash – despite his side failing to overturn a similar task last term against Liverpool.

“I would say that Liverpool did well by not letting us play our usual game,” Capello stated earlier this afternoon.

“It will be different against Werder because of the way they play and how we are doing at the moment.

“We have matured a great deal since then and are aware that we can take on anybody, while also retaining the respect required for our opponents.”

Juventus go into tomorrow’s clash fresh from their 1-0 win at Sampdoria and Capello believes the Germans will allow them chances at the Delle Alpi.

“I’m hopeful as my team is in good shape both mentally and physically,” continued the former Milan and Roma boss.

“They have players with attacking characteristics and won’t be able to forget that, especially as sides do look to score during away games in Europe.”

Capello should be able to field his strongest starting XI, with the only doubt seemingly revolving around the fitness of Ibrahimovic.

If the Swede doesn’t make it then Capello will play David Trezeguet – who is now fit – alongside Alex Del Piero.

“Trezeguet and Ibrahimovic both trained today but Ibra had a slight problem at the end, we’ll see how he is tomorrow,” continued the tactician.

Del Piero is confident that he can rise to the occasion if he is handed a starting shirt against Werder.

“I’ve been in some good form for a while now, even if the whole team is doing well also,” stated the captain.

“We are preparing for this game with the right amount of concentration and we know about what dangers we will be up against.”

Juventus (probable): Buffon; Balzaretti (Chiellini), Thuram, Cannavaro, Zambrotta; Camoranesi, Emerson, Vieira, Nedved; Del Piero (Ibrahimovic), Trezeguet

Source: Football Italia

True Capello, but his problem is a lil bit bigger than a slight one...

Guus in demand. IMO- Capello will be at Old Trafford in 12 months time and I think Guus will have moved on by then so the search for the coach will have to be a careful one.
