Dominance. Great to win yet again. For a moment there I thought we may even end the year trophyless.

This in a way was the greatest satisfaction since the first Conte scudetto as the competition from Napoli was very strong this year. They will probably end the season with 91 points. Normally that should be enough!

Next year I suspect Milan will be in the top 4 and Napoli and Roma will be giving us a good fight.

I wonder how we will muster up the motivation for an 8th title.

To sum up - over the course of the season - here are some of my observations on individual players:

Positives:

Douglas Costa - Really makes a difference to this team - great addition.
Matuidi - Low profile but really helped the team balance enormously.
Benatia - Really lifted his game this season compared to last - really helped fill the Bonucci void.
Asamoah - Surprisingly useful this season.

Encouraging:

Bentancur - Still young but showing good promise at his young age.
Bernardeschi - Haven't really seen the best of him but showed good performances.
Szcesny - Was pretty much flawless every time he was called upon.
De Sciglio - Wasn't terrific by any means but was better than expected.

Inconsistent:

Dybala - When on song he is a superstar. But too often dissapointed relative to expectations.
Higuain - If you ignore that he cost 90m, he made a valuable contribution. But not making the impact you would expect and that is not just in the big games.
Khedira - Had just as many good games as bad games.
Buffon - I know its sacralidge to say in his last year but his mistakes came through more often than in previous years and that cost us dearly - especially in Europe.

Dissapointing:

Sandro - Definately his worst year. Shadow of his former self.
Barzagli - Showing his age in the big games.
Rugani - I say dissapointing given his lack of playing time. Perhaps Allegri knows something we don't.
Mandzukic - Not as big as last year for us.

Other players like Chiellini, Pjanic performed in line with expectations in the end.

Let's also give credit to Napoli, they played a great season and pushed us to the maximum. They already tied Milan's 2005/06 seasons record as the best runner up ever with 88pts, and if they win their last game, they will tie our points record of last 2 seasons at 91pts. If that happens, this will be the 1st time ever 2 teams finished with 90+pts in a top league not named La Liga, who did it 6 times in the Ronaldo and Messi era (09/10, 10/11, 11/12, 14/15, 15/16, 16/17). There is more. If Roma wins their last game, they would have more points than the 3rd placed teams in England, Spain, Germany (added 12pts to Dortmunds 55, since they play 4 less games) and France, and if Lazio win, they would tie Pools points total and could have more than their equals in the other leagues (depending on Marseilles outcome in their remaining game). This for all you "Serie A is weak" bunch
