wow...ask and you shall receive ;)

Paul, after over a year of this ordeal, whats your take on it all ??
Hi Vinni, Hows it going?

The current "discussion" or as a whole?

Vinni, its nice you ask but essentially its not my forum anymore... Most of the people here care not a jot my thoughts or for that matter would understand them.

The only thoughts that matter here are those of the current active crop.

Not too mention I like, understand and work with facts and i seem to remember that being a problem for many people in this fine place.

But hey, maybe tomorrow i wont be tired and ill pop back...

Give me a shout on msn some time vin.

Its good to see you here, Paul...this place needs guys like yourself and Dennis who know a thing or two about our sport

We'll talk more about family stuff on msn.... maybe I'm just speaking for myself (which I doubt), but I would like to know your thoughts on the whole situation with Calciopoli and the "facts" that have been posted here

You and I started this conversation on MSN way back, but then we had to cut the conversation short (cant remember why, tbh)

Most of us dont really know all the details, not living in Italy and all, so when gsol presents his info, many here are left to wonder just how badly we got screwed

Paul, while many of the dunderheads here do not know what sort of Juventus supporter you happen to be, some of us do know the facts about you and we would love to hear the opinion of someone that is close to the whole debacle. I'm sure you know far more about the situation than gsol, so it would certainly be a privilege to hear what you have to say. If anybody castigates you for your opinion, I will personally inject them with the ace of spades.

And besides, you can always come to Nick's thread and post your opinion. With the password in place, it keeps the neanderthals out.

I'm not discrediting anyone....I have listened to both gsol and Denco, and both points of view seem reasonable since I dont know the entire situation.

Like I said earlier, when I read the info that gsol has posted, it does make me wonder if we got the royal screw....

...and then I read what Denco posts, and it brings me back to harsh reality

harsh reality is in the actual wiretaps, trial documents etc. I faced it...not sure why others can't

gsol, it puzzles me that one moment you readily admit that you do not in fact know everything regarding the trial, yet state your insistence that we are in fact innocent. I've read your posts on the matter and assuming that is all there is then sure we are innocent, but since you have an incomplete picture it is anybody's guess where the incriminating bits lie.

That aside, great to see you again Paul.

I can't pretend to know everything. No one can. But all that I know about this scandal (and believe me its a lot) points to a farse. As more comes out, more indicates that what I'm saying is correct. Keep in mind that key telecom figures have been arrested recently regarding their activities (Tavaroli among the key figures).

These were Juve's accusers...now set to face criminal charges.

I want to take a minute to address a personal issue that I think is hindering the very objective of this thread. I want to outline why I am here and why what I write should be given weight.

In the summer of 2006 when the scandal broke out my thoughts were more or less like those of the people who are contesting what I write now. I knew there was little credibility in the Italian media after the years that I spent in Italy but I also felt that if there were wiretaps confirming Moggi’s guilt and if a Tribunal (albeit a Sports Tribunal) thought it necessary to punish Juventus that there was little that I could do but accept the fact that my team cheated and got caught. It bothered me but I accepted it. Needless to say that in July of 2006 I was not defending Moggi or Juventus because I couldn’t.

Then something happened that sparked my curiousity. Facchetti (an Inter Director) had an intercepted phone call leaked to the public. I fully expected an investigation to follow as it did with all other implicated teams but nothing occurred. This set off a red flag and I embarked on what would become a year long search for the truth.

Being fortunate enough to be fluent in Italian I began researching everything and everyone that had anything to do with the scandal. When I looked into who people like Guido Rossi were and what Telecom Italia was I realized that I really knew nothing at all. So I kept on researching. I made the proper contacts in Italy (lawyers, authors of books regarding Calciopoli that have been published already, journalists, etc.) who helped me gather information from credible sources. Ever notice that I refrain from citing the heavily biased Milan based newspapers like Gazzetta or Corriere while at the same time avoiding heavily pro Juve newspapers like Tuttosport? That is because I have been provided with impartial newspapers like La Stampa, Il Sole24, and La Repubblica. These papers have no financial ties to anyone in the soccer world making them far more credible.

The icing on the cake came when the trial documents (sentences, appeals, confessions, verbal statements left by all subpoenaed individuals from referees to directors, judge declarations, etc.) were finally made public. In addition the actual wiretaps were made public. When I set out to read everything and listen to everything it wasn’t to prove that Juventus were innocent but find out what they had done wrong and why they were sentenced. I wanted confirmation that Juve had fixed or attempted to fix matches in order to win the titles that I celebrated with them (I was actually in the stands when they won their 28th).

What I found was the exact opposite and I am here to let others who didn’t do the research (for linguistic limitations) what I found. Many times I have been accused of being too one sided. This accusation is senseless. I am not posting personal one sided opinions. If I translate exerpts from the sentence, they are what was written and authorized by the FIGC Judges that presided over the case. I can’t change that. If I translate a wiretap I am translating what was said in the phone call…not what I think it meant. I can’t change a phone call to make it more two-sided. It is what it is.

I certainly didn’t come here to fight with people over Calciopoli. That’s what the Inter forums are for. I came here to give others a chance to hear the bare facts rather than what we’ve been told to believe by a very partial Milan based media.

Now experts in the matter have been summoned to analyze what has been said in this thread and I am happy. I hope they can give me what I haven’t been able to find in over a year. I thought the judges and magistrates would have been able to show me where Juventus violated Article 6 but they couldn’t. If someone else can show me these things than please do so. I look forward to reading it.

I never pretended to now everything. I know that my depth here is vastly superior to most. If someone else here has exceeded my research or is closer to the trial than the rest of us and found something that I don’t know please post your findings.
