But if all are innocent, surely they can't just walk away going 'Oh, sorry.. our mistake' ?

We should definitely be able to go after some sort of compensation, right?

I have no experience whatsoever when it comes to matters like these, but that's just common sense.
they can but then they can expect a couple of lawsuits and that's where we can ask for compensation
this trial is only deciding on the guilt or innocense of Moggi but can result in all sorts of new trials

First mention on eurosport was due to ancelotti being called to give evidence. Surely that will raise interest in the uk but it's ridiculous everything needs to be linked to the epl for anyone to take notice in this country

So this Inter-Fiorentina conspiracy didn't go well then?

Inter were supposed to win on Saturday, which they didn't. Fiorentina were supposed to win last night, which they didn't.

Bergamo denies Inter present

The former referee designator at the heart of the Calciopoli scandal has denied receiving a present from Inter President Massimo Moratti.

Paolo Bergamo was responding to claims made by Luciano Moggi's defence lawyers at the Calciopoli trial in Naples where new evidence has recently come to light.

One wiretap shows the late Giacinto Facchetti apparently asking Bergamo to come to Inter's offices to receive a 'little present'.

Another appears to show Facchetti demanding that Bergamo designate Pierluigi Collina for one of their matches.

Speaking to Rai Sport, Bergamo was pressed on whether he ever received any presents from Inter.

“I don't remember ever going to Inter's offices to pick up a present,” he said.

“It was Christmas and in that period it was normal to receive a present from all the clubs for the festivities. And so, in short, in this wiretap we also need a little common sense.”

When asked about claims that he dined with directors, Bergamo said: “It doesn't seem shameful to me. It was my last year as designator so my wife organised evenings at home with old friends among which were Giraudo and Moggi.

“Moratti never came. He was the one who invited me to Forte dei Marmi in previous years,”
Bergamo concluded.

Is he trying to say that it's normal in Italy for the referee designator to receive presents from all the Italian clubs as long as they're in Christmas :howler:

forget the thing with the compensation ... even if we are proven to be innocent ... there is no such thing like a compensation by an institutional or federal instance ...

did you ever here of police men that did apologize and clean up after a shakedown/investigation of the house of a suspicious person ?

this just gets filed under "justice errors" and that is it. afaik there is no case that ever someone got compensated for errors done be the court or the prosecuting attorneys...

The Hollywood movies taught us that you can sue for injustice and you can get a lot of money :D
I don't know the law, but it sounds reasonable to be able to sue an institution and in case of a win, to get a comensation in return, set by the judge.

That is incorrect.

name a case then ....

we are not talking about a case stupid woman against a big company like mc donalds ...

its company(juve) against a state

who should judge that the citizens taxes are used to give juventus a compensation for an error made by a few people in court ? they can not and will not sue the people themselves either, because they just acted as part of the state...

why the fuck do people here think Moggi will walk back to Juve??

FFS you are all ignoring the pretty obvious,La Triade was being broken up BEFORE this all happened, they were all being forced out, kicked out of their jobs, thanked for their service and told to fuck off...etc....

Juve were starting afresh anyway, these clows were almost certainly lined up for the jobs, why would the club suddenly go back to the man they wanted rid of? even if he is found innocent our best hopes are that we go and get a new board regardless of the outcome

I don't know any names of cases by heart, sorry. Google probably has a lot more answers than I do anyway.

For example though, if I get imprisoned today & it turns out later that that decision was wrong, I am entitled to receive a sum in damages (amount obviously related to different factors such as time gone by for example). That is your right.
Same thing if a company gets punished (for whatever reason) & can't go on with their regular business and it later turns out that the initial decision was wrong: they are entitled to damages.

Usually though, a settlement is reached outside of court in these instances.
