Turk that's the gift call that people were wondering about. Guess the cats out of the bag. It was Facchetti and Moratti.

I’m really conflicted over what I want out of all this. I see the points being made here and there are plenty of valid ones.

I definitely want Moggi to win this trial and for Auricchio to then be charged with evidence tampering. If he is found guilty and others are dragged into it (like the Inter-Telecom boys) then the league will already start to clean up as they head off to prison.

As far as what to do with Inter and other accused teams, the league etc. It’s tough.

First of all I think the line “all innocent or all guilty” is too broad and generic. Yeah they were all guilty of excessive calls to designators and therefore Article 1 but the assumption that all the calls were the same is questionable now. We’ve heard demands for specific referees, direct calls to referees, possible gifts, etc. I think everyone was guilty of violating Article 1 but some may have gone beyond that.

What I would like is for a proper reexamination of ALL the evidence from the Sporting Tribunal by a commissioner who is not Guido Rossi. If teams need to be punished than do so. If Inter only violated Article 1 then dock 3-5 points and fine them, if they violated Article 6 then off to Serie B. In any case if their sponsors and owners are found to have tampered with evidence or interfered with the trial they should be banned/arrested anyway and that alone will cripple them.

I firmly believe we and others deserved a few points off and fines for unsportsmanlike conduct and if a proper tribunal determined as much then I would argue that we were improperly punished in 2006 and that restitution should be made. The FIGC would ultimately be responsible and could make amends over an extended period of time. The standings of those two seasons should be reexamined too. Granted if everyone is docked 5 points than nothing changes but it should occur and that will restore our titles.

As far as what would happen to Italy if Inter got the boot. I say don’t relegate them unless a proper Article 6 violation is revealed and proven. If it is, league or no league they must be punished. I’m tired of seeing Inter saved from Serie B with their above the law antics from passports to accounting fraud to steroids and on and on. If they are guilty this time throw the book at them. The league will recover in time.

Do I think that will occur? No.

I think the FIGC will salvage Inter again. I think they will punish them by revoking our scudetto and likely the Coppa & Supercoppa they won in 2005. We’ll get our 2006 title back and they’ll burry the whole thing under an acre of sand so that no one will bring it up again.

In the end though, I’m happy about two things. Inter were revealed for being no different than others (maybe worse), and the original scandal was revealed to be a sham thanks to Auricchio. When I said evidence had been tampered years ago I was called a conspiracy theorist. Thanks Auricchio, you son of a slut.
