Calciopoli never existed, says Moggi Wednesday 2 December, 2009

Former Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi has denied Calciopoli ever existed in light of claims from Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis.
The matter has resurfaced of late with De Laurentiis making the sensational claim that he feels a new Calciopoli is emerging in Italian football.
De Laurentiis is upset with a number of refereeing decisions that have gone against his side even though Napoli are on an eight-game unbeaten run.
Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss, Moggi asked: “What is Calciopoli? Calciopoli is the refereeing mistakes, nothing more. There have always been mistakes. Up until a certain moment the Presidents all spoke about good faith, then De Laurentiis, Zamparini, the President of Bologna, and Mourinho got fed up and now they all talk about Calciopoli.
“They are all complaining now since referees are making mistakes in industrial quantities. The referees make mistakes and Trefoloni, who is the worst, is obviously led to making such mistakes. Anyway I don't believe in conditioning the Calciopoli trials in Napoli. Trefoloni is distracted by nature.
“The truth is that Calciopoli does not exist. It only exists in the mind of those who wanted to carry forward this thing and it's demonstrated by the sentence recently delivered in Turin that has disclosed the existence of an alliance to see Juventus defeated.
“The absolution that comes from the trial in Turin says a lot because the fact does not hold. Calciopoli was born because the club has not defended itself in Roma and in Turin. The referees make mistakes, some because they are not capable, others because they have to make important decisions in a few seconds. “Trefoloni could even have three minutes, he would still make the same mistakes,” he concluded.
