New Calciopoli Moggi ban

Wednesday 6 August, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Disgraced former Juventus director Luciano Moggi and seven ex-referees have been suspended in the second Calciopoli trial into a private mobile phone network.

Moggi has been given a 14-month ban for his part in the scandal, accused of creating a system of private telecommunications between directors and members of the Italian Referees’ Association (AIA) in 2004-05.

He achieved this, argued the Disciplinary Commission, by buying up and handing out SIM cards from Switzerland to avoid the Italian authorities.

Former Messina director Mariano Angelo Fabiani has been banned for four years, while referees Tiziano Pieri, Salvatore Racalbuto, Stefano Cassarà, Antonio Dattilo, Paolo Bertini, Marco Gabriele and Marcello Ambrosino are suspended for 18 months.

Ex-referee Massimo De Santis receives a six-month ban, but Gianluca Paparesta has been cleared.

I know I may get attacked for this but im just speaking from an Objective point;

Even when Moggi's ban is over, is it really a good choice to re-admit him into the Juve board. I know the current one has made mistakes but re-admitting moggi will only degrade the club as every other sporting director or Club Management would think twice before doing buissness with him.

I admit he knew what players to purchase and when to sell, but even during his days at Juventus he was labelled by Rummenige or beckenbauer (not sure which one) as the mafia, when he tried to tap sagnol. On top of that his credability doesnt help with Amouroso and Miccoli publicly admitting being blackmailed by him. On top of that he threatened Capello's assitant coach Baldini not too long ago.

All im trying to say is Moggi's Credability is done, Even if his ban liften, would re-admitting moggi be a wise choice?

    Yet another ban for yet another trial concluded with no proof, answers, explanations or in this case recorded calls. The entire trial was based on the assumption that a number pertaining to Moggi dialing a number in say the Bari area had to have been calling...Paparesta because that is where he lived. Countless testimonies proved the assumptions wrong (i.e. hotel receipts that showed Paparesta out of Italy let alone Bari) but it made no difference again. In Italy all you have to be to get a ban is a Moggi, guilt is meaningless. Oh well...at least anti-Juventini have one more thing to chant about now. One thing is certain, two and a half years have passed and some 5 trials concluded and still not a single fixed match has surfaced. I feel for Anti-Juventini...they have proven that they will pretty much believe anything so long as it is suits their initial bias.

    On a more important note, I got a letter from the head of Giu Le Mani. Luc Mission is preparing all necessary steps in order to take the case to Europe and now even higher than the Commerce Court. They are preparing an appeal to the EU Civil Rights Court. It may take time but there is no way these verdicts will hold in such a prestigious court.

    Zulfi, getting Moggi back would be a godsend but don't worry. He won't be working for his enemies in this lifetime ever again. Have you heard what he has to say about that snake Montezemolo?

    He's not coming back.

    A big sum of money from Moggi for all the damage he caused will be a good start.

    That's much better than both statements, clear and to the poinit.
