The return of Martin Caceres to Turin saw the defender praised for his versatility from the word go. A versatility that has been on full display since his second coming. The 24-year-old has featured as a right midfielder, central defender and has even exhibited his goalscoring prowess.

While the Uruguayan international has so far done most of his talking on the pitch, today saw him given the opportunity to convey his delight in words, through an exclusive appearance on Juventus Channel’s ‘Filo Diretto’.

Caceres began: “Since I left here a year and a half ago, I always wanted to come back and so I was delighted when this opportunity came about. Very few players are left from the team I played with, but I’m very happy in this group. The lads are friendly and great players. There’s always a nice atmosphere at Juventus.”

After putting in a solid performance at the heart of the Bianconeri rearguard in Bologna, Caceres is ready to reprise the role on Sunday. The absences of injured duo Barzagli and Chiellini have been added to by Bonucci’s suspension following his red card at the Dall’Ara.

“We’ll be without great players,” continued Martin. “But I’m perfectly comfortable playing in the middle, I’ve featured in that role on several occasions. Vidal? The manager has yet to decide if I’m to play alongside him, but he’s already covered the position with his national side. In any case, Arturo does well in any position he’s asked to play in and I’m ready to play alongside him.”

“We know that it will be a difficult game,” he concluded. “That’s why we’re preparing with the maximum effort. But this Juve side has the characteristics to play home and away with the same conviction and desire to impose ourselves. We’ll go to Genova looking to win.”
