French FA needs to change the rules if it's such a problem. If clubs are really enticing under 18 players then there are FIFA/UEFA regulations in place supposed to prevent this happening. But it's been happening for 25 years minimum. I remember SAF used to bribe parents and the kids all the time, not necessarily money (IDK?) but they'd offer other incentives. Dodgy as fuck. Man Utd used to tap up half of the clubs in Italy going straight to the parents with offers, and many ended up leaving.

If these players are 18 and leaving then tough shit, EU employment laws come into play.

The one thing I would say - I know there are some future sell-on fees in place for these kind of moves, but at the beginning the 'selling' club ends up with a pathetic nominal fee based on schooling the player. Clubs should have a high future sale percentage (30% or more), and maybe even financial recompense based on a player's book value reaching a certain figure at the 'buying' club. That way if they turn into a Pogba the 'selling' club isn't getting completely stuffed.

So I read that Gotze will join the MLS. Just took a look at Germany's WC winning squad in 2014. Only 10 out of 23 players still have an active and relevant playing career six years after lifting the WC. Don't think I ever saw a squad in to irrelevance so fast.

Manuel Neuer goalkeeper, Bayern Munich
Kevin Grosskreutz plays in the 3.rd Bundesliga
Matthias Ginter midfielder, Freiburg
Benedikt Höwedes retired from football
Mats Hummels defender, Borussia Dortmund
Sami Khedira, midfielder, unofficially retired but barely feautures for his side anymore
Bastian, midfielder, Schweinsteiger retired
Mesut Özil midfielder, unofficially retired but barely feautures for his side anymore
André Schürrle midfielder, retired from football
Lukas Podolski midfielder, playing in Turkey for his last paycheck (retired)
Miroslav Klose forward, retired from football
Ron-Robert Zieler goalkeeper, playing in the 2.nd Bundesliga

Thomas Müller midfielder, playing at BM
Julian Draxler midfielder, playing at PSG
Erik Durm defender, playing at Frankfurt

Philipp Lahm (captain) defender, retired
Per Mertesacker defender, retired

Toni Kroos midfielder, playing at RM
Mario Götze midfielder, joined the MLS aka retired
