Yeah thats true but todays Germans shouldnt feel guilty about what happened 70 years ago and keep on apologizing, what their grandfathers and those before them did had nothing to do with todays generation
As far as Im concerned the British never apologized for their Empire even though they killed and enslaved much more troughout centuries

Of course but you also get to a point where you think they dont have to keep saying sorry for what happened in the 30’s and 40’s as long as they make sure it doesnt repeat - and so far they’ve been more than good at that, some would even say too kind.
The Brits never said sorry for their crimes during the Empire, theyre mostly just proud of it, maybe because the average brit are ignorant about it.
The japanese also never truly said sorry about their crimes during WW2 (ever heard of Nanjing?), japanese history books are even being rewritten so they come out as the victim and not the aggressor, just imagine the reaction if the Germans and their government paid tribute to fallen waffen SS soldiers or saw themselves as the victim from WW2, but for some reason the japanese gets away with it.

I think that might be because most of the crimes were committed against Chinese or other Asians and not westerners and the Chinese haven't forgiven them
