Gigi Buffon spoke of his delight at seeing Antonio Conte back on the touchline in this afternoon’s 1-0 away victory over Palermo.
The 34-year-old said: “His presence is fundamental, because he immediately manages to make suggestions and identify the right tactical solutions. And with him in the dressing room it’s impossible to take to the field without being fully focused.”
Passing judgement on the Bianconeri’s performance in Sicily, Buffon believes there is still plenty of room for improvement.
“We need to improve because on such afternoons it’s best to put the game to bed. We weren’t made to pay today but we need to learn our lesson for next time.”
The goalkeeper concluded with an update regarding his ongoing contract discussions with the club.
“We need to speak about its length. I want it to be a short-term deal, because I don’t need reassurance, on the contrary, I think it’s better to have motivation. In any case we’re down to the final details.”
