That said I always thought there are few plane crashes if you consider what a plane is actually about. This might sound naive and childish, but to me flying is still amazing.

In good taste, seeing the thread title, it was honestly difficult for me to avoid making a comment about Buffalo wings.

That said, I figured Vinman might be getting sucked in to some heavy overtime now. RIP to the victims...

I wonder what you do as a policeman in a case like this. I mean what can you possibly do? Get some statements, write a report, make sure whatever evidence can be gathered up is collected. It's rather late to intervene.

They organize the recovery, make it so emergency vehicles can get to the site, keep crowds back, etc. We worked with police when I was firefighting out west.

I'm not sure, but the higher crude prices last summer caused airliners to cut spending in various departments. Moreover, the FAA has had to layoff some workers in various parts of air traffic safety due to the downfall of the economy. Perhaps these issues have something to do with a couple flight problems we have seen. The jet in the Hudson was just bad luck, though.

But more problems with infrastructure will occur in the coming days, so be prepared.
