That's 12 days AFTER we bought Knezevic. Thank you very much.
I'm pretty sure Andrade was still rumored to be recovering from his injury a long while ago, but who knows, who cares.

We want to have 60 centerbacks in the squad, one of which is only truly great, whatever, fine with me. :tup:

I think that if we get Ivanovic we'll sell Zebina. Juve would play him at RB. I remember some Juve member(don't know if it was Pessotto or Ferrara) who said some weeks ago we were gonna buy a RB.
i seriously could live with that. I don't know how much a zebina is worth on the market but ivanovic for 5m sounds like a bargain to me. It's obvious that IF we buy another defender, it SHOULD be someone more versatile then what we have, and if ivanovic can play both CB and RB, then i think it's fine. But, we have to keep in mind that he disappointed the chelsea-guys... but for 5 million, i'd definately go for it. Anyone know to whom and for how much we could sell zebina?

I thought we were only going to loan him for now and then use our rights to buy him if we are pleased with his performances...
5mil is a fair amount, since he is younger and probably already even better than Zebina and surely less injury prone...
If we end up selling Zebina to cover the largest part of this transfer, it would be a wise choice.
Besides, we have Grygera and Mellberg and we can afford to gamble a bit there.
As for the CBs, we have actually 3 decent5 solutions;
Chiellini, Legro and Mellberg, if we sell Zebina then Ivanovic or Mellberg could be occasionaly be used as a RB.
Knezevic will return soon from his injury, but Andrade wont, Legro seems to be a bit less sharp this year and he will be just a sub.
They way we are now, i see Ivanovic as a safe bet, we are covered in every position, even if he doesnt play a single game and even if we sell Zebina to get him.
But if Ivanovic is proved good enough, as a CB, or even as a RB, there is plenty of room for him to shine and he would only do that being better than our current material and raising the standards in our team.
Knezevic would indeed become useless under those circumstances, but if we fail to grab Ivanovic, we know that we have the 4th CB sub already covered...
I would prefer a player like Chiellini instead, someone who could play as CB and LB, but since we are interested to cash in on Zebina, then i guess we are fine...

I very agree for this transfer
Ivanovic is a versatile player as CB and RB
He will make good partnership with Chiellini
and when we play Mellberg as CB than Ivanovic can play as RB too

But for RB actually we need an aggressive one
Zebina suck but why there is no clue for the management to sell him
He is almost play very few games in last 3 seasons
And now he play without determination so why Secco don't want to sell him
Zebina wages is high too (2 mill Euros)

There is no way in hell that we'll pull Ivanovic for anywhere near 5M Euros. C'mon guys, get rid of that figure, it came from Goal.com. As it has been pointed out, the reason Ivanovic isn't playing is because of Chelsea's world class depth. It's not because he can't cut it. If the player becomes available, he'll be sold for a fee near his original transfer price (which was something like 11.5... so an appropriate discount would be say 10M ish). I would love for this to happen, and was really pulling for us to make the deal last January. I'm pretty sure Chelsea have had quite a few inquiries about the player by now.

I'd love this to happen.

Kill two birds with one stone;

Buy an up and coming CB/RB in Ivanovic who would improve our defence greatly.

and get rid of the pile of horse shit that is Zebina - damn I'd let him go for nothing.

Wow this surely is too good to be true.....I've a feeling it is ....

Zebina a pile of horse shit? :crazy: Inconsistent and injury prone maybe, but he is easily one of the better RBs in the league.

I'm with this transfer! We should but Ivanovic instead Knezevic from start!
:agree:

And why are people blaming goal for the 5 mill in the article when this is a corriere story...which they even reference as such

I hope this works out though. Chiellini, Ivanovic, Mellberg and Legro sounds decent enuf
