When the operating system completely crashes, it gives you a kernel panic, also known as the "blue screen of death" on Windows. It turns out that some Mac people were dissatisfied with the aesthetic qualities of the kernel panic screen on the Mac and decided to fix the problem:

But this begs the question.. how often are you getting kernel panics if you've gone as far as being fed up with the way it looks? People like to customize their wallpaper, bootup screen, grub screen etc, stuff they see all the time. But kernel panic? Hm...
