Matuidi is done at this level. Time for him to move back to France and play for Marseille or Lyon. Either would be good place for him to continue what left of his career.

Would it make sense to put him in front of the defense and put Pjanic higher up the pitch instead?
No,
the regista position requires good ball control and great passing ability. he lacks both.

His best position is a destroyer midfielder but he is so bad technically that it offsets his great physical qualities.

a couple of weeks ago tuz praised matuidi for his workrate.
now tuz says he's useless with the ball.

tuz is so smart: both are true. for this team, no matter how atrocious his passing game is, matuidi is hard to replace.

Is it really that hard to find a workhorse who does not play like bambi on ice?

Kante
Allan
Gueye
Ndidi
Wijnaldum
Henderson

All these players run like animals, and guess what? They can actually play football too.

it's not about the market, it's about our current squad. put rabiot on the pitch, and you gain some in passing, lose a lot in workrate. if rabiot was a bit faster and less lazy we shouldn't look anywhere else. technically, he's a fine player.

also, matuidi is rumored to have a broken rib. he'll certainly miss the upcoming france games, and probably atalanta too. let's give a chance to gueye or allan. :numnum:

agree. matuidi should be here but he shouldnt be starting every week. There needs to be an alternative LCM who is much more capable in possession.

remember yesterday when we were trying to score and matuidi was getting on the end of attacking moves? lol

Try Bernie there since Bernie couldn’t hit the the side of a barn if he was standing in front of it.

Hopefully Sarri uses this opportunity to find someone more useful on that side

If it’s work rate people claim we can’t replace with Matuidi then by god Bernie would come close and at least offer more going forward than Matuidi. Can’t be worse that’s for sure

interesting point though i dont think workrate makes him exactly as competent as matuidi. matuidi can make excellent tackles that are some way off from bernardeschi crashing into opposing players.
Agreed. How is he going to make a good tackle when he couldn’t even hit the side of a barn if he was standing in front of it?

It’s ironic though. Matuidi plays to compansate for Ronaldo deffensively. But he kills the play offensively which does not help Ronaldo. I have a solution. Bench both of them. Rabiot for Matuidi and Dybala for Ronaldo.

Honestly, it’s easier to teach a lazy player how to work harder defensively, than it is to teach a hard working player how to pass better in the final third.

As long as Matuidi plays, our attacks down the left will continue to be predictable and limited. That is the unfortunate reality of a player who simply lacks innate footballing talent.

I would rather transform Bernardeschi into an LCM than continue with Matuidi in that position. Berna runs his socks off, and although his final product is not great, he is still vastly better on the ball than Matuidi.

also, matuidi ends up losing ball due to his lack of skill, not brain. thats why he does a lot of back passing to sandro

berna on other hand loses balls because he lacks basic football brain. he would be source of countless counter attacks if he playd in lcm
