Marotta should focus on a fairly young midfielder, around 25 at most. We are becoming dangerously old and with very high salaries.

In 2 or 3 years we'll be fucked to offload Matuidi himself, Khedira, Mandzukic/Higuain and others. It's likely that most of them will spend 1 or 2 years of their contracts earning more than their value, considering a likely decline.

This is all wrong IMO:

- we need someone younger, to balance the squad (we have more than enough experienced players);
- we are quickly increasing our wages, maybe too fast for our growth;
- we need someone technical/creative, as we have a shitload of workhorses box-to-box in Asamoah, Lemina and Sturaro, and Matuidi is not clearly better than the first two;
- we are overpaying for a player again;
- we are making Raiola richer.

Really hate this. We lost young players and brought in only old/soon-to-be old players, except for Pjaca. In a very short time we lost Coman (19), Morata (24), Pogba (22), Pereyra (25). Our age balance was great, now we are getting dangerously old.

Btw, we continue to have one, and only one creative player in the midfield: Pjanic (before it was Pogba). This is very dangerous, as we are one Pjanic injury away of having a brainless midfield (despite Marchisio and Khedira being very technical, they aren't creative).

And again, after being robbed by Raiola, we immediately do business with him again? What the fuck?

Glad we're not letting emotions get in the way of business, like ADL.

If Beppe and Paratici are convinced of Matuidi and sends the fat fuck on a mission to lower PSG's asking price from 40 to 30 million, I see no problem with this.

Especially not on a night when 10-15 million of the Pjanic money comes straight back into our pockets :beppe:

Btw, read an article today that summarized our net spend this summer, taking into account all of the sales and all of the purchases. And it seems we haven't spent anything when it's all said and done. In fact, we're 1 million to the good.

Now with this fact + Roma crashing out of the CL earning us more from the market pool, 30 million for a 29 year old Matuidi won't harm us at all.

and raiola will probably want us to pay a hefty agent fee again to see this deal go through.

Seriously what happened to trying to lower the average squad age? we went from signing the likes of Dybala, Zaza, Rugani last season to then sell Pogba, potentially Zaza and sign Higuain and matuidi who are 28 and 29 respectively... I somewhat understand the higuain deal considering his potency upfront but to add a average-good matuidi is very short sighted especially for the hefty fee suggested irrespective of the CL money

Hmm, not really.

We made 78M out of Pogba, that should be taken into account. Paying 25M to an agent is not usual, so we should really consider this as the money we got. The other 5M to solidarity and etc. we may not consider, as this percentage happens in every transfer.

So we pretty much spent 25M so far. With Matuidi (30M) + Cuadrado (5M), we'll have spent around 60M - that's our average annual expenditure in the mercato.

But our wage bill really increased. From last year to this one, we can say (salaries source: gazzetta)

OUT: Pogba (6M net), Morata (around 3M net), Pereyra (1.8M), Padoin (0.8M), Caceres (around 2.5M), Rubinho (0.4M) - around 14.5M net

IN: Higuain (7M), Pjanic (4.5M), Matuidi (4.5M), Dani Alves (4.5M), Benatia (3.5M), Pjaca (2.5M), Dybala (increase of 2M to become 5M), Bonucci (increase of 1.5M to become 5M) - total increase: around 31M net

So in one transfer season the salary budget went on more than 15M net - that's an increase of 30M cost per year. It's pretty relevant. The club is making a lot of effort here, it will be very important to go far on CL again.

btw: one year ago, we sold the best box-to-box CM of the world, one year younger than Matuidi, with more time remaining in his contract (Matuidi's contract ends in 2018), for 37 + 3.

Hands down best mercato in Europe and we definitely improved our team..My only wish is that in the next two mercati we focus on aquiring young talents to ease the transition we'll have in 2018 (Buffon and Barza retirement and the probable departure/decline of Licht, Evra, Alves and 34 year old chiellini and God only knows what will be in Dybala's head after spending 1 month with messi and mascherano in the world cup

How could anyone find this player at this price acceptable?

I have never once seen him have an impressive game.

Try to sign Neves, make the team better. What the fuck is Matuidi supposed to add over Asamoah?
