I think we can find better options if we are willing to spend £7,
BUT as Rab pointed out, we dont need him right now and judging by his age, we will never need him, besides we have now other priorities and real problems to confront...

no way, one season wonder is one way to put it, for me he is a perfect example of the premierships defensive level. he is making a name for himself scoring against second rate back-lines, not good enough for serie a.

in england all the shite can float to the top
:toast: spot on again Boz.

Football365 just found what we found yesterday:eyebrows: :

    Thumb On The Pulse
From The Daily Mirror's 'Football Spy' section:

'Portsmouth goal machine Benjani is a shock £7m target for Juventus. Juventus coach Didier Deschamps tried to sign Benjani, 29, from Auxerre when he was in charge at Monaco. And now he is lining up a fresh swoop after seeing Benjani shoot to the top of the Premier League scoring charts with eight goals this season.'

That cheeky Didier. Trying to sign players for Juve a full six months after resigning from the Turin giants.

Good to see that the 'Football Spy' has been paying attention.

a big no no, now push on and get players that can actually make a difference
    :agree:

For God's sake lets hear no more about this guy, or Gilberto or anyone else who wont improve the team. IMO we have a good squad, we need players to make the team better, players who can make the difference between top 6 & just plain, old-fashioned-dominating-for-years-in-bianconeri-TOP!

    Benji in Juve link

Portsmouth striker Benjani Mwaruwari is a target for Juventus, according to his manager Harry Redknapp. However, the Pompey boss doesn’t want to let him leave and is ready to offer him a new contract. “It's good that people are talking about Benji and they are saying clubs are interested in him,” he said. “It shows you how well he's doing. Even when he wasn't scoring he was playing well for us, but people see the goals. The fact is he's enjoying it here and we are not selling him.”

I agree. we have a good team. to get better we need players that are better than the players we have and can make the difference. we should concentrate on bringing one or two high quality players to torino instead of four average players.

According to english tabloid Daily Mirror, Juventus would be ready to invest 7 million pounds for Zimbawe striker Benjani: Portsmouth's striker but would like more to renew his deal with his present society.

    QUITE THE TURN AROUND
Last season, The Gossip Column would not be able to type this rumour out without being reduced to tears of laughter.

However, this time around the idea of Juventus making a £7million bid for Benjani is altogether more believable after the Zimbabwean bagged eight goals for Pompey this season.

Don't fear Pompey fans - The Daily Mirror reports that Benjani will 'snub' the offer from Juve to sign a new contract at Fratton Park.

bah! Let's sign Huntelaar and get it over with. :D
Gomez would have been nice if his price wasn't so high. Afonso Alves would be sweet also since he doesn't play with a "top" club in Europe but I would prefer a guy who would take Trez's place in 2-3 years.

How true is it that we have a pre-agreement to sign him next summer?

your guess is as good as mine.

His non-move this summer and Ajax rejecting a transfer to Arsenal could lead us to believe that some club as an agreement for him next summer or he really really wanted to stay one more year at Ajax even without the CL.
