bah! Let's sign Huntelaar and get it over with. :D
Gomez would have been nice if his price wasn't so high. Afonso Alves would be sweet also since he doesn't play with a "top" club in Europe but I would prefer a guy who would take Trez's place in 2-3 years.
afonso alves, the one-hit wonder? might as well get spinesi!:shifty:

Roma has been linked with Gomez.I think he`s available for around 10m Euros.

How good is Aquafresca?
I whatched him few times and he did very well but i can`t tell it based on few matches.

He knows how to score so if he accepted a role like Zalayeta then I'd buy him. The thing is that he'd a hot head from what I heard so...
AZ was close to buy him in a 15M € deal, but Heerenveen blocked it, so the guy stayed in Brazil, for weeks, no one knew if he was coming back at all.
Eventually he came back, the fans hated him, so he just decided to score SEVEN goals in a cup match.
34 goals in 31 matches. Not bad.

After that, the fans loved him again like nothing happened.

Seems Man City are wanting him now. I'm sure Heerenveen won't block a transfer this time, but the buyer needs to put at least 15M € on the table...

    BENJANI COMMITTED TO POMPEY

Portsmouth striker Benjani Mwaruwari has pledged his commitment to the club after being linked with a move away from Fratton Park.

Italian giants Juventus are rumoured to be following the former Auxerre ace as they look to add to their attacking options.

Benjani has been a revelation this season and is Pompey's top scorer this season with eight goals this term.

The Zimbabwe international admits the speculation over his future is a distration, but he is adamant he is happy at Pompey

"I'm committed to Pompey," Benjani told The Sun. "The transfer talk is an unnecessary distraction."

It seems we can close this stupid thread.

Man City have apparently just beat the deadline to sign him for about £8m.

Edit. Some doubt as to whether it gone done in time.

    Benjani Move Back On?

The FA Premier League have stated that they will re-examine the paperwork pertaining to Benjani's move from Portsmouth to Manchester City, meaning that the ill-fated switch could be back on...

Benjani's late switch from Portsmouth to Manchester City appeared to have come just too late for the transfer window, meaning that the striker was to remain at Fratton Park.

This was an unsatisfactory arrangement for all sides, most notably because Pompey had just splashed out on Spurs' Jermain Defoe, meaning that they had a deficit of cash and a surfeit of strikers.

However, there could be good news for all concerned, after it was revealed that the Premier League were willing to examine the transfer's paperwork.

The Zimbabwean forward did not complete his medical until after the transfer deadline had passed, but the Premier League are to check if all other documentation was received on time. If so, the late completion of the medical and its associated paperwork may have a blind eye turned to it.

Manchester City - and Benjani himself - will eagerly await developments.
