in the meantime Beckham is better than Owen.
as for Gerard,Hargreaves and Ferdinand i dont think any of them even come close to beckham.especially now,Beckham is one of the best 15 players in the world now IMO.Owen is way of form now,and i wouldnt rate him as one of the best 5 strikers in the EPL this season.

but after all thats my opinion,it might be far from the truth.
I'd really like to see your list of the best fifteen players in the world...I might get a good laugh out of it.

Beckham is a lot of things, but he's not a fantastic footballer no matter how much he's talked up to be.

You mean the bastard who over-embelished to get Nedved a yellow card? No thanks
now dont go blaming that on Mc...

Nedved was 100% to blame... that tackle was just useless and stupid!

anyway, we're talking about nedved here! if Mc over-embelished, and nedved got the bad side of the call, then that's just one against the thousands of calls for nevded!
He's high royalty (ifnot, the king) of over-embelishing!

I blame Urs Meier for that. Cold blooded referee, he is!! :fero: I've always thought of Macca as one of England's best, and always frustrated he rarely starts for England ... Yes the whole Becks-no-21 is SUPERSICK but thats life. Give nedved a new haircut and a superstar wife and we'll have our own Becky!!!

I'm one for semantics, so you've got to bear with me, but you said, "name 2 better right wingers" And while Beckham is probably a more skilled player than Ljungberg he's certainly not a better winger.
I don't agree. He can dribble considerably better, but I think Beckham's crossing more than makes up for it. I'll concede that Beckham's hardly a classical winger, but I'm treating him as he performs on the right wing, not on some arbitrary notion of what a winger should be.

You know who does that for England? Rio Ferdinand, Michael Owen, and Steven Gerrard. Not, Beckham, he saves himself for the right moment.
To an extent, that's true, but Del Piero's onyl able to produce a couple of top class performances per season, and people still scream blue murder if he's not in the Italy team.

No, he spoke poorly of the entire rest of the team.
Are you sure that he distinctly spoke of the rest of the team? It really doesn't ring a bell. Could you dig up the quotes in an online newspaper article or something?

Michael Owen is better, so is Steven Gerrard, Owen Hargreaves, and Rio Ferdinand.
Owen has developed his game in the past two seasons, but before that he was a one-trick pony - he'd race past the last defender, towards the near post, and as the keeper came out, he'd chip him just inside the far post. He's developed into a fine player, but I wouldn't necessarily concede that he's better than Beckham, and he's certainly no more effective.

Gerrard is the single most overrated midfielder in England. He can't cover a backline, his tackling is reckless, he tends to lob every ball forty yards forward, and he's inconsistant. Apart from that, he's a great player, but he's not as good as Beckham. What happened to him against Greece? He disapeared when the pressure was on. Ditto for Liverpool every time I've seen them go out of Europe. He may yet wind up truely world class, but he's not there yet.

Hargreaves is a useful squad player for England. Beckham is one of their star players. Which one do I rate better?

Nearly forgot Rio. As much as I hate to dispell the legend, Ferdinand can't mark his own shadow. I've never seen a centre half as afraid of challenging for the ball in the air.

Edit: Correction, Wes Brown and John O'Shea are even worse for that.

Well, then we're talking about different things, aren't we?

But, DP isn't Italy's best player, nor is he the captain.

No, I can't find the quotes, but let's just discard that one and move on, I've still got 9 other reasons.
