I also think that beauty is how a person treats and respects you, how kind and considerate they are, I think that makes a beautiful person.....

but you do need a bit of physical attraction in the first place!

If I got the hang of this thread correctly then Martin is looking for the 'typical thing' that makes someone beautiful. Like a standard that can be applied to measure beauty. I think society has helped form the image of beauty by subconsciously drumming into our minds the following criteria through movies, advertisement, soap operas etc...
- Athletic - Slender(female)/Ripped(Male)
- Smooth face
- Attractive smile
- Clean
After all beauty is skin deep and that is why most of you disregarded it and changed your opinion of someone after knowing them.
My 2 cents :)
Well said Ali in general :)

Only one thing about personal choices: if you tried to give here some examples of beauty, some of us would say: yes she/he is beauty and some of us would find she/he ugly.

Call me weird but I find Zidane (as of now) a much more beautiful person than he was, say, four to five years ago. The less hair he has the more beautiful he is :)

I've been thinking about Zidane myself. And I finally concluded he is neutral really. I do think he looks good but I couldn't decide whether it was because I like him as a player of purely based on the looks. And I think it's the former, if he was just any guy I'd probably say he looks average.

    Same goes for Michael Jordan.

Beauty eh? Well, I'm gonna say that a person needs only three things to be beautiful:

    1. Eyes: A person must have engaging eyes. Someone with obviously shallow or dull eyes, it is very unattractive.

    2. A Smile: a person with a natural and easy smile is very attractive, but a person with a fake or uneasy smile seems fake or dishonest.

    3. Voice: there is nothing more attractive to me than a great voice.

This is where customization kicks in and since everyone's taste is different you know the rest :)

but tell me this: how do so many models get by with grimaces on their faces??

not grimaces per se, but with not-so-happy faces....
It's because they're supposed to look superior and cool, un-affected and better than everyone else.
