Well Geof, I've been living in Brussels for some time now so it's only natural that I try to follow the local league a bit. Though, as I said, I had already been very impressed by the Belgian team of WC 1990.
I tend to disagree with your assessment about small teams lowering the level. Unlike in the Netherlands, where Ajax and PSV share all the glory, with the occasional Feyenoord win in between, Belgium has produced quite a lot of different league winners in the last years : from Malines to Lierse and Genk, there's been more to it than just the traditional Anderlecht-Bruges tandem. So, even if the usual top clubs have lost their European aura, it seems that the Belgian League has remained competitive or at least has produced some variety.
