Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness has revealed that he is looking to bring Cologne striker Lukas Podolski to the Olympiastadion.
The 19-year-old Germany international, who has scored 19 goals in Bundesliga Zwei this season, is contracted at the RheinEnergie Stadion until 2007, but Hoeness has revealed that he is definitely keen to bring the promising starlet to Bayern.
Cologne president Wolfgang Overath has repeatedly stressed that his club are not prepared to sell Podolski before the end of his current contract, despite previous interest from French giants Monaco.
However, Bayern's financial muscle could make a big money bid difficult to resist, with Hoeness admitting that 2007 will be the year in which an approach is made.
''He has not signed any sort of pre-contract with us, but the fact of the matter is that we are very interested in Lukas. We want to sign him in 2007,'' Hoeness told Bild.
