i was watching this portlandia episode where they had a skit about a couple who started watching Battlestar Galactica and just couldnt stop, so decided to check it out. boy is this show addictive, it's a remake of the popular 70s show and i think it's much better. i just finished season I so please no spoilers :p
Its an amazing character drama which happen to be set in space (tons of allegories), dont expect too much sci fi stuff (funnily enough, my 2nd fav sci fi series ever, after Firefly, and neither use sci fi as anything else but the mere backdrop), as some do and nag about. Some seasons are slower then others, and it doesnt fullfill all its plot points fully to the end, but its one heck of a dramatic ride.

Did you see the mini series before the season? I dont recall how it was set up fully, it been ages since I saw it last.

Nah, Caprica is after the whole series (just a spinoff prequel), I remember that there was a 3 episodes mini series that was before the first season, it came out 1 year before season 1 (10 years ago).

4 years since I saw the last season, it might be overdo for a rewatching.

Nah. I remember when it came out, one of my friends was so excited. Tried to watch one episode, it was just too Star Trekish to me. :D
Pretty much the episode, Star trekk (tv series) was pretty much revelling in making up sci fi techno babel and visiting new alien race that look somewhat like the ones in previous episode, and keep repeating that formula. BSG is pure and simple very character driven series about the last remaining humans trying to survive, and trying to find a new home.

The 3 90 minute episodes that set up the series?
