Weren't NWA and Public Enemy the ones who elevated hip-hop in the early 90s?

NWA and Public Enemy were part of the glory years of hip-hop, back in the late 80's.

NWA brought Gangsta Rap to the forefront, although Ice-T had pioneered it a few years earlier, it was NWA who brought the stark reality of their enviroment to the forefront.

Public Enemy is quite possibly the greatest rap group ever. Social Conciousness brought to the masses.
