A busy end to October awaits the Under-19s. After last Saturday's visit to group leaders Genoa, where they earned a last-gasp draw, Baroni's youngsters are now preparing to face local rivals Torino in Vinovo on Saturday. They will then end the month by hosting Manchester City in Alessandria on Wednesday 31 for their third NextGen Series fixture.
A tricky double-header that the Bianconeri go into with a number of players sideline, although the injury crisis didn't stop them coming from two goals behind to snatch a point in Genoa: "All things told, a draw was a fair result," Marco Baroni told Juventus Channel. "After all the chances we created it would have been too much for us to lose, perhaps even a draw was less than we deserved, but given the way the game panned out we were happy with the result."
2-2 the final score, thanks to a late brace by Padovan. A result that doesn't do much for the standings but is certainly a boost for morale going into the derby. Saturday's game at Chisola in Vinovo (13:30, live on Juventus Channel) also sees the team deprived of two players through suspension: Stefano Padovan, who misses out after collecting too many bookings, and the captain Andrea Schiavone, who has been given a one-match ban by the FIGC's disciplinary committee due to a problem with his contract with his agent. Baroni observed: "We were already missing important players like Ruggiero, Emmanuello, Laursen and Untersee and now we'll have to make do without these two as well. Schiavone's ban came right out of the blue. We'll be patched up against Torino and they'll be coming here with a strong side. It's not the best of moments but we're all up for Torino and we'll give it everything we've got."
On Wednesday 31 the Primavera play their third group match in the NextGen Series. After Fenerbahce and Paris Saint-Germain, it's Manchester City's turn to be hosted at the Stadio Moccagatta. Baroni's team go into the meeting with the English youngsters coached by former Bianconeri player Attilio Lombardo sitting top of the standings. "It's a fantastic competition, and it will be another great opportunity for our boys to grow. We're top of the group and the Manchester City match is very important but for now all we're thinking about is the derby."
