On my local juvefan forum we had a thread discussing about who's the best st among benzema, lewa and suarez. The debate reached its apex the past two days and with Benzema winning Ballon d'Or, his fans are now gaining the upper hand, but before its really evenly matched.
not serious question, just wanna know what you guys think of the three players.

Benzema outlasts both and he started earlier as well. But at their peak its Suarez>Benz>Lewa
If I had to pick 1 of them to play his whole career for Juve when they're 16 I'd go for Benz probably.

If I had to pick one of them in their peak to play a season upfront for Juve, in most set-ups I'd choose Suarez.

If I had to pick one of them at their absolute best to sub in for just 9 minutes, I'd pick Lewa :p

absolutely. last year's benzema is close though.

also, lewa's longevity isn't bad, he had like 7 40+ goal seasons in a row, that must be some kind of messi/cr level shit. (messi had 10 40+ goal seasons in a row, cr had 8.) not a lewa fan but this is still impressive.

If you 5-6 years ago said Benzema one day would end up as a Ballon d'Or winner people would've said you were insane.

But it's now the reality and totally deserved to be honest.

I kinda agree, but lets not forget both Suarez and Lewa won two European Golden Shoes, an individual price which is nearly as prestigious as the Ballon d'Or. And Lewa won two "Fifa the Best" in a row as well.

But Suarez' peak was insane, fully agreed there.

Congrats to Benzema.
But at the risk of sounding like a broken record, lets also recall a certain dude called Platini who played for a team called Juventus and won 3 Ballon d'Or in a row.

I know I'm still stuck in the past.

I don't think a golden shoe is anywhere near as prestigious as a Ballon d'Or. Immobile won it a couple of seasons ago. I don't think many people pay much attention to it or the FIFA award. The Ballon d'Or and that cool looking trophy is easily the top personal award in world football.

The Ballon d'Or is of course the most prestigious, but the Golden Shoe is also very a very prestigious prize. The FIFA award too which started in 1991 as FIFA World player of the year.

Immobile won it, but meh players have also won the Ballon d'Or, do I have to mention Michael Owen? Ronaldo even said the Golden Shoe meant more to him than the Ballon d'Or.

I remember people kept mentioning Suarez' two Golden Shoes a few years ago when he was compared to Lewa, so it certainly do get a lot of attention.

Fair enough, I don't know anyone who really pays attention to it. I thought the Fifa award merged with Ballon d'Or and they've tried to recreate it without anyone really taking much interest.

I have a feeling Ronaldo said the golden shoe was more prestigious because at that point he had won more than Messi (unlike the Ballon d'Or),

To be fair I also don't know anyone who pays much attention to the Golden Shoe, although it was brought up by Suarez fans again and again when he was compared to other strikers of this generation.

But it seems to me people mostly don't pay too much attention to these awards like the Ballon d'Or, Golden Shoe, FIFA the best etc. It's always the CL that are talked about football fans between.

The golden shoe is also a flawed award tho, it doesn't give equal opportunity to all players, or rather, gives the benefit to players who score in the top leagues in a flawed way. Someone who plays for Benfica would have to score like 60 to have a chance. France was also counted less as the other top leagues few years ago, don't know if they changed it.

And it terms of prestige, being the best player in the world is much greater than simply the guy who scored most goals in one of the top 5 leagues

But lets be fair, the Ballon d'Or has been massively flawed for around a decade or more now. The Golden Shoe might be flawed, but at least scoring the most goals in the top5 leagues in the world is a bigger achievement than doing the same in the Portugal, Netherlands etc. There for I think it's fair they're given more points.

France is also counted the same as the other top 4.

My problem with Ballon d'Or and these other awards is they're so biased and just a PR stunt these days. At least the Golden Shoe, even if flawed just determines who scores the most in the top5 leagues, no silly voting and bias deciding anything.

They asked some journalist why he didn't vote for Bobby Lew for the 2020 Golden Ball, after Lewy was head-and-Shoulders above Messi, and the journalist said, "Lewandowski does well for Bayern, but he never shows up for Germany."
I remember that very well :touched:

It's pure gold. This is the exact reason Ballon d'Or can't be taken serious since a long time. This guy is a journalist ffs.
