From different points of view his strategy wasn't that bad. If only he had had a good coach to advise him with which big names to buy, there wouldn't have been a problem.
He had Del Bosque, but he didn't want more forwards and media whores, he wanted football players needed in certain positions. What was the outcome? Del Bosque sacked!!

I hope the replacement decides to buy a player like Walter Samuel for 20 million then sell him the next year for 3 while still desperately needing the player's services. That would be funny.

Oh wait, they already did that.

I agree -- this is potentially bad news. I was hoping Real Madrid was going to be complacent to fail with the status quo for a while longer. It's been working brilliantly to my liking.

Bad news for Madrid definitley. sportive results might consider failure, surely the last few years, but economically, it was a big sucess!

He could and should IMO have waited till the end of the season, imagine if they go on to win the Champions' League or La Liga. As ridiculous as their transfer dealings may have been over the years, its not entirely impossible that they could've succeeded with it had Perez exercised a little moderation at times and the players bothered to step out of their respective comfort zones and played with more purpose.

It will not make any difference until the end of the season, when the transfer market begins. Actually he will "start" working at the begining of next season. Now his only work is to sign papers and sit on the palco to see how Madrid performs...

Financially perez was the man who turned then into the richest club, bringing in chumps like Beckham etc.....
But he interfered too much like moratti does with inter. It'l be interesting to see what happens in the future. Capello to Real? hopefully not.
