Spinazzola on the left. :baus:
Hey Atalanta debuted with a full start two 17 year olds today , Bastoni and Melegoni, latter we want to sign. Curious if they gonna stand out, Gasperini is fearless with his youth approach. The other Academy product are 22 year olds atleast, but to start 2 17 yo kids?

Doesn't Caldara play in the middle for Atalanta? Imo it's Romagnoli on the left, Rugani on the right, Caldara in the middle.
Does Atalanta play a 3 man defense? I was under the impression that this guy is our Barzagli replacement. Also i recall Allegri sometime last season saying that Ruganis best position is in the middle. But don't really know Caldara that much to know whos more suited for the Bonucci role

Yeah he plays in the middle of a back three at Atalanta and seems more like the long-ball passer type than Rugani who likes to keep it simple.

Its Romagnoli on the left, Caldara on the right, Rugani in the middle. Get that shit right Sky

Also Bonucci will be 35 so will probably still be playing
No Zaza? Stururu? Italy weaken themselfs on purpose, to leave a (small) chance to minnows like Spain and Germany. Like the fair play approach.

Allegri coaching that team would be handicap enough for the rest, no need to go full strength

Caldara strikes me as a stopper type of CB, hard and strong header even if he has decent passing feet (Atalanta doesn't give that much of the ball to their CBs like us). Of the three Rugani seems most comfortable with the ball so he makes more sense in middle. Even if he ain't no Bonucci type either.

Nah, Gasp would be a great replacement for Ventura long-term IMO. Right age, plenty of experience, plays 3 at the back, great with youngsters...oh and he's a Juventino :baus:
Still not sure, i applaud & admire his work at Genoa, Inter, and Atalanta.
This new Azzuri have plenty of wide attackers, and central defender, so i agree Gasp wouldn't be a bad pick. FagsIGC should pick Ancelotti/EuroMax imo, since Conte already picked.

Melegoni was struggling and subbed off after the first half. He was the worst player on the pitch. struggled physically and had it hard to play himself out of Samp's pressure.

Bastoni was interesting. Defensively really good for a 17 year old kid and comfortable on the ball. Passing a bit sloppy but you know it's a debut and there are a lot of nerves :p

He does. Romagnoli is by far the best ball-playing central defender of the three. He has the best passing stats as a defender beside Bonucci I saw some weeks ago. Romagnoli is the better regista but I think with Caldara as deep player it's better balanced because Caldara is right-footed and Romagnoli left-footed

Can play in the middle but also on the right. No problem for him.

I wish Gasperini was the NT coach
No. He is one of the few coaches giving youngsters a chance. He need to develop more Italian talent. Ventura is doing well, he plays with a mix of youngsters and experienced players. The NT is not for youngsters but the best players.

Melegoni is quite a slow and rangy, very technical player, Pirlo kind of role, so it's probably normal that he would struggle with a high press with his inexperience.

Because I am bored and I am really interested in our Italian youngsters I made this:
I was going to make something similar but colour coded for players for things like 'Serie A regular', 'Serie A fringe', 'Serie B regular' etc. This works as well :D
