Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, idk - It's tough to gauge who will be on the team going forward and not

It'll be interesting to see who's a gamer and who were silver wrapped in Conte gold: forse, Giaccherini, Parolo

Defensive-wise, I'm interested to see if Adam Masina gets bought by a bigger club; he might supplant Darmian if both of their respective trajectories stay as is.

In the midfield, Il Principino & Verratti coming back will obviously be amazing; I'm interested to see if Giaccherinho falls off a cliff or not again. I'm assuming yes without Conte. Those three will be our top 3 central midfielders. Throw Sturaro in as #4.

I never liked Marco Parolo but he actually had a very solid tournament; time will tell if he falls off the Conte-less cliff.

De Rossi was our most important player creativity-wise, but I can't imagine him maintaining his now meh-defense until 2018. I'd say 25% he's on the team in 2018. Marco Benassi will probably take his place and fight with Parolo for a spot.

Florenzi, El Shaarawy, Candreva, Bernardeschi, and now Berardi will all fight for spots on the wings

At striker, I see Andrea Belotti earning his spot; I suspect he's a darkhorse Azzurri star

Eder will continue to get burn, as well as everybody else currently on the roster. I suspect Ciro will be Ventura's new love child.

Insigne will light it up. Maybe Ventura likes Giovinco? Boh

------- Barzagli ------ Bonucci ------ Chiellini -------
(Rugani)

Candreva -- Verratti - Marchisio - Florenzi -- De Sciglio

--------------- Insigne -------------------------------------

-------------------------- Eder -----------------------------

It'll be interesting to see. We have a lot of talented wings, so that's good.

hey! Thanks for the good reply.... I'm really excited about the future for the Azzurri, I think this perfomance at the euros showed what we could do, even with minimal talant, it's just applying the right strategy and putting it to good use. With more talent like we have waiting I think we could be a top side again sooner than later. Forza Italia!

I don't think Barzagli will be around. He already mentioned he won't be after Euro 2016. Motta and De Rossi should also be too old in 2018.

The young guys we should consider for defense is Rugani and Romagnoli for defense. Zappacosta has been quiet. Hopefully we find a left footer as well to play at LWB.

In midfield , we can see Jorginho determined to make it. Bonaventura probably will be somewhere if he maintains his form.

Attack i think Bernadeschi will need to step up , Berardi must be there but we need a WC CF. Pelle and Eder will still be around. No more Immobile please.

But we need a better attack than these guys. the only options we got right now Andrea Belotti andLeonardo Pavoletti which I don't think is an upgrade to Pelle and Eder. Unless Lapadula suddenly takes the league by storm , or Gabbidiani moves away from Napoli and starts banging left right centre , the only genuine talent that is an improvement if he decides to use his brain is Balotelli.

Giampiero Ventura won't experiment very much at the beginning of his Italy tenure, relying on Antonio Conte's work.

The Azzurri need to be cautious about their qualifying campaign for the 2018 World Cup, as they share their group with Spain, and a second place would force them to the play-offs.

Ventura is therefore looking to build on Conte's surprisingly effective work at Euro 2016. The Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the 3-5-2 formation will not be amended and that 21 out of Conte's 23 call-ups will be confirmed, with no more than Thiago Motta and Federico Marchetti being left out.

Daniele De Rossi and Andrea Barzagli will still be asked to play for Italy, with the latter in particular being pressed not to retire.

In the long run, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Domenico Berardi, Alessio Romagnoli and Daniele Rugani should all slowly be integrated into the first team. But the former two in particular will start off by contributing to the U21 side, as they are still considered a little too green.

Marco Verratti will return only if his condition of form has improved, while Claudio Marchisio is going to be out all the way until November.

The Rosea speculates that Italy's starting XI against Israel, the first qualifying game on September 5, may look like this: Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Candreva, Parolo, Verratti, Florenzi, De Sciglio; Eder, Gabbiadini.
