whether you like him or hate him, he's a warrior on the pitch and pretty much never plays bad wearing the Italy shirt.
Which is really weird considering how poor he has been for Roma. You're right though, I haven't seen him play a bad game for Italy in ages now.

Well some follow up news suggest the training was only with regards to dead balls, so he's not totally in the clear :/ Might start on the bench. Italy's chances of going through increase a lot more with DDR playing.
Maybe starting him off the bench would be a good idea but in that case they need to keep the game 0-0 up until DDR comes on. Sturaro will be under pressure to deliver if he starts and he usually plays well under such conditions

Please, you're biased.

A midfield duo of Witsel - Nainngolan is better than that trash.
Lol. No. I'd actually consider Marchisio-Verratti-De Rossi the best in the world. Verratti is way better than Witsel and Marchisio is a less physical, but still overall improved version of Nainggolan (maybe a tie because Nainggolan scores more).

Same team with Marchisio, De Rossi and Verratti taking up the midfield roles would have been very solid imo. Sure, not as strong as they once were, but easily a top 4 side.

Now you kind of sense it might not be easy for Germany, but I can't see how on Earth Italy would win it.
Yup, maybe not undeniably the best, but I can't name any that's undeniably better either.

Right now, there is only one reason Italy has a real chance imo, and that is because it's Italy against Germany in a knock-out match. Everything else speaks for Germany.
