Pirlo would likely been dropped even if he was still in Italy, his level dropped and relatives I have in US says he isnt even impressing in MLS.

Giovinco actively chose the big paycheck over the limelight of competetive footie, I would still call him and wanted him there because he is good (literally one of my top few fav players still), but I understand Conte or the FIGC drawing the line somewhere. You basically get yourself out of contention leaving the main stage when you join lower start up level league so its not much to dispute on footballing terms in itself.
It's a retarded and stubborn decision from Conte, which is not surprising as Italian managers are generally stubborn and at times retarded.

“And frankly, I expect better from the soccer-sophisticated Italians, who by the way have struggled against MLS-heavy US squads over the last 15 years (including a 1-1 draw at the 2006 World Cup) – the same MLS-heavy US squads who continue to win international acclaim at World Cups.
That's also a good point, but regardless of that it's still asinine. It's like me disliking Michael Bradley because he prefers chocolate ice cream. It makes no difference at all.

And then we come to this:

Capello: 'Italy should play 9-1'
