It's entirely Conte's version of the 3-5-2. It demands the defenders to be playmakers up the field, and keep far too high a line, and leads to many opportunities for defenders to fuck up as they have too much responsibility and pressure in non-defensive aspects of the game. It's stupid, and a defender like Bonucci can't handle all that. He's very good when he can focus almost entirely on his defensive duties.
