was there really anyone else? taking into consideration injuries and current form/fitness he'd have to start looking at the likes of borini who hasn't played in a while and will rot at the bench of liverpool. Just goes to show what a limited pool of quality players the NT has

Italy's forwards depth is something like this:

Centre forwards
Balotelli, Immobile, Rossi, Destro
Osvaldo, Zaza
Quagliarella, Borini, Paloschi, Toni, Pellè
Gilardino, Matri, Floro Flores, Amauri

Wide forwards/support strikers
Cerci, El Shaarawy, Insigne
Giovinco, Berardi, Gabbiadini
Sansone, Sau, Cassano, Di Natale, Totti

Enough quality when they are available, but extremely average depth and little superstar quality.

you guys hate on Conte but the man got us 3 consecutive scudetti. PPl were hating on him in the preseason 3 years back when he wanted to play with a 4.2.4 then eventually morphed it into what became the 3.5.2 which most WC teams that went far were utilizing in Brazil. Look, the facts are infront of us, Serie A has ruined the national team. Look at the number of foreign players across the league, it's totally astouding. There are games where there aren't any Italian players on the field at all! How is talent supposed to grow in such conditions? This will take a long time to fix, Conte needs to be firm, patient and fight to get the FIGC to change their foreign player rules for the Serie A. There should be a limit of how many foreigners could be on a team, maybe 5 or 6 but something must be done NOW!

Buffon
Darmian - Barzagli - Chiellini - De Sciglio
De Rossi - Pirlo (Verratti) - Marchisio
Berardi - Immobile (Destro) - El Shaarawy

That's not as bad as you all make it out to be. And on the rare occasion that that Rossi is healthy or Balo isn't being stupid it'll be even better. Hopefully Leali, Rugani, and Sturaro can all develop well as those seem to be the most dire positions right now.

Italy probable: Sirigu; Ranocchia, Bonucci, Astori; Candreva, Marchisio, De Rossi, Parolo, Giaccherini; Zaza, Immobile
:sergio::sergio::sergio::sergio::sergio::sergio:Oh dear.....That's probably the weakest defence in Italy's history....Starting Giaccherini:lol:If this is the team he goes with tomorrow,Conte might as well forfeit the match rather than suffer humiliation of a cricket score

Buffon is a legend, and probably the best goalkeeper of the last decade, but i'd have Sirigu as Italy's no.1 now.

Worst post I've seen this month.

Sirigu is still not on Buffon's level and won't be when Buffon is 40.

Probably best of the last decade? And who might his competition be? Try probably best of all time

Just a friendly. Curiously how we will play with 4 in the back and without our best defender Vlaar and best attacker Robben. Lens :sergio:
