yes. if he had ambition to play in the WC he would stayed in italy and fight for a spot. going to China shows that he has no ambition and should not be called (ever)

There was a time Italy had great fullbacks. That time is over if you look at which options there are, very low quality wow.
De Sciglio looks to be an exciting prospect for the future, but yeah no extraordinary full backs.

The level of quality with the centre backs has fallen greatly too.

I agree, but Prandelli didn't gave De Sciglio that much playing time though. Ogbonna as LB would do the job IF he could give the same quality as in the Real Madrid game.

Zambrotta and Panucci.
Zambrotta in his prime years was out of this world, no doubt, but who others? Panucci?! you've gotta be kidding me, even if you look at 2006 squad, you will realize that Lippi made an amazing thing - he used Zaccardo and Grosso a lot, guys who were not playing in european tournaments and who were well rested for the national team, italian players are always overperfoming for their NT

I was referring to his previous years, before the WC, while he played for Real and after when he was protagonist in Roma. He didn't make it to the 2006 squad, some quarrel with Lippi from way before, but you can't deny that he was a good FB in his prime.

Grosso was awesome at the world cup none of the current fullbacks will play as good as he did and Zambrotta was imo the best left back in the world when he was in his prime.

Rossi should be in the team when fit he can score out of no where he could be usefull in the later stages. Really hope that dungbag Montolivo doesn't start this summer. I also don't think Gilardino or Giach should be in the squad but I guess there aren't many other options Giovinco could of been uselfull but even if he went he most likely wouldn't get a game anyway.
