It can work both ways, as you say.

Talking of experimental sides, just came across this photo from 2004 versus Finland:

Aimo Diana, Simone Barone and Andrea Caracciolo came off the bench.

Remember, mistakes happen :D

Aimo Diana sort of looked like Totti :D

I remember a particularly horrid 2-0 loss against Iceland. One of Lippi's first games in charge.

Insigne, Balotelli, Rossi, and Totti should make it. Unfortunately, Osvaldo will be selected as well. That fucker Gilardino should be nowhere near the squad.

De Rossi, Florenzi, Marchisio, Pirlo, and Montolivo (unfortunately) are sure to be selected as well. I don't understand why Prandelli keeps picking that useless faggot Aquilani, but he must be servicing the other mids or putting in extra work behind the scenes to warrant selection.

In defense, Astori and Rannochia are beyond horrendous and should no longer be considered for selection. Italy really (surprisingly, considering their history and reputation) lack depth in that department. They need the Juventus triumvirate healthy, and a focused and determined Buffon.

I would love to see Totti get picked, but I don't think it will happen. The world cup is still months away and there's no guarantee that totti can remain this consistent, also, did he even make himself available for the National team? I don't recall Totti saying he wants a call back. I might have missed it.
