Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has announced his squad for this summer’s Confederations Cup.
The Azzurri boss had chosen a 31-man preliminary squad but managed to whittle that down to 23 players on Monday evening.
Angelo Ogbonna, Andrea Ranocchia,Michael Agazzi, Giacomo Bonaventura, Andrea Poli and Marco Sau have all been cut from the team. While Luca Antonelli had already pulled out due to injury.
It was thought experienced defender Andrea Barzagli would miss the tournament through injury, but Prandelli has deemed him well enough to travel with the national team.
The Confederations Cup takes place between June 15 and 30, with Italy kicking off on June 16 against Mexico. However before the Azzurri fly out to Brazil, they have a World Cup 2014 Qualifier against Czech Republic to play on Friday.
