The Italian national team coach Cesare Prandelli, has announced the squad that will travel to Malta for the match between the two countries on Tuesday, March 26 as part of the 2014 World Cup qualifying round.

These are:

Goalkeepers - Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Morgan De Sanctis (Napoli), Federico Marchetti (Lazio), Salvatore Sirigu (Paris Saint Germain).

Defenders - Ignazio Abate (Milan), Luca Antonelli (Genoa), Davide Astori (Cagliari), Andrea Barzagli (Juventus), Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Mattia De Sciglio (Milan), Christian Maggio (Napoli), Andrea Ranocchia (Inter).

Midfielders - Antonio Candreva (Lazio), Alessio Cerci (Torino), Alessandro Diamanti (Bologna), Emanuele Giaccherini (Juventus), Claudio Marchisio (Juventus), Riccardo Montolivo (Milan), Andrea Pirlo (Juventus), Andrea Poli (Sampdoria).

Attackers - Mario Balotelli (Milan), Stephan El Shaarawy (Milan), Alberto Gilardino (Bologna), Sebastian Giovinco (Juventus).

Don't really care about international football, just hope our Juve contingent return to us without any injuries.

So many duds in that lineup as well. Ranocchia? Antonelli? Gilardino? De Sanctis? :sergio:
not as though any of those 4 are likely to cement a starting shirt any time soon. Can't really argue about ranocchia since there arn't really any decent Italian CB's other than what we have at Juve.

antonelli was just a retarded choice, Peluso and/or Santon would have been my pick(s)

Gilardino again i don't understand the decision behind this, he's been doing well for bologna but his international days are well and truly over

de sanctis - just to fill up a gk spot, hardly been impressed with the vice buffon's for one reason or another

Having said that i do question Prandelli's decision making at times
