I actually really love this current Italy squad. Such experience mixed with very promising youth. The defence could use a bit of work though. Seeing how several players on the team are in their prime, and many are approaching it, I see a pretty good future for us. If Pirlo can maintain his form for Brazil, while the rest of the team plays well, I could honestly see us making the finals. And with the likes of Verratti Insigne Immobile and Marrone making their way up, I wouldn't bet against Italy winning a major tournament in the next 10 years

Don't worry about Montolivo, he's a one-trick pony. He has an amazing shooting ability, but apart from that he's just a decent midfielder. Inconsistent, too.

Oh, I know he's nothing special. Solid(ish) and completely unspectacular. And he was shit up until that. Which makes it even more annoying.

Italy deservedly 2-1 up. They had a shocking first 10 mins or so, but they have done enough so far IMO. Some shocking defending at times though. They usuallu struggle against these overly physical, organised Scandinavian teams, so a win against them is a very good result. Should be a good second half.
