Italy need to take the game to England; no DDR in defense, and no Giac either. I also don't want to see Motta deployed in midfield; he hasn't really been that impressive and looks exhausted/lacking sharpness/fitness.

England aren't a good team :p

I do agree with you though; however, I feel that Italy will definitely lose something without DDR's presence in midfield. Why did Chiello have to get injured? :sigh:

How about starting Ogbonha? He's strong, tall, and physical.

There's absolutely no way I'd throw Ogbonna from Serie B into a knockout match of an international tournament.
This.

I'd move De Rossi back to central defence alongside 'Nucci and Barza.

Midfield trio of Marchisio, Pirlo and Nocerino. Maggio and Balza wingbacks. Di Natale and Cassano strikers. Bring on Balo in the 2n half.

Yeah niggas. Got it all sorted out.

Buffon
Abate - Barzagli - Bonucci - Balzaretti
De Rossi - Pirlo - Marchisio
Motta
Cassano - Balotelli

With Chiellini gone, I don't advise the 3-5-2.

Bench motta. Put Cassano in his place and start DiNatale
Agreed ... Like this

derossi..pirlo..Marchisio
...balotelli...cassano
.........DiNatale

We go with the Xmas tree formation.. Crowd the middle but give us strength and speed up front. Plus diNatale is used to playing as the lone striker. With Balo and cassano in support and pirlo feeding them this could be a good formation going forward.

Damn i wish Cassano was fit. Him and DiNatale for 60min, then with Balotelli, would do damage.

Noce would be better than Motta because we need a couple mids to push forward and give support. The WB's will be kept busy with England's pace. DDR hopefully sweeps everything . I don't expect Pirlo to get much of the ball but we only need a couple magic moments from him.

I actually thought T Motta was decent in the first half. Anyhoots will miss Giorgio but Leo did well vs Ireland and as long as Barzagli's there I feel secure.

funny how some of the Italian players would've preferred to meet France
