sooooo...

any word on the formation and the starters yet? :bianconero: Thursday can't come soon enought!

@Bianconero81, You should come to the US, the economy is bad but its not bad like in Europe and we feel it much less than they do. The malls are still always full, ppl buying new cars etc etc... the biggest problem here is the housing crisis.

De Rossi was most defintely MoM, he did a very good job especially as a DM playing as CB. More of the reason as to why he struggled a little vs Torres was due to fatigue.

The reason why he struggled against Torres was because he went to play him offside when he shouldn't have, and because he has a tendency to dive into tackles which let Torres through a second time.

Thought Buffon, Pirlo and Iniesta had good games.

He might have went to play offside because he was probably too tired to man mark a fresh Torres I don't think you can hold that much against him considering it was first game at CB for Azzurri and despite how Torres got the better of him he didn't score. He has that tendency to dive into tackles because he is naturally a midfielder.

Buffon definitely had a good game, Pirlo was second best on the pitch and I don't think Iniesta was that impressive, yeah he had a good game but he didn't really create that many chances as far as I can remember. Motta, Cassano and Chiellini were quite good too. Marchisio and Bonucci both had good games thought not quite as good.

He wasn't too tired to run back after he gave Torres that room though, would be a silly excuse for trying to play offside. He had errors which could have allowed Spain to win the match on two occasions, don't think that's good enough when there were a few players having a quality match out there. Should have mentioned Motta as well, I liked him.

I thought Iniesta was the one Spanish player that wasn't afraid to test Buffon and he was a lot more direct than the side passes which the rest of the team were obsessed with, and generally looked most dangerous.

Meh, I was just making that up :p but I still think overall he had a great game and I don't think 1 little mistake that didn't end up costing Italy a goal should detract from that. If Torres did score it would be a different story.

The best part of Iniesta's game were his runs, I don't think his passing was that good, David Silva's was probably better, he even had an assist.

Iniesta's a great player. My favorite in Barca and Spain for sure.
Iniesta is a diving cunt and as much of a sore loser as the rest of them. I do admire his game (apart from his diving) and I think he deserves a lot more praise than Xavi.

Cassano on Balo, Thiago Silva and gays
By Football Italia staff

Antonio Cassano laughs at being Mario Balotelli’s “tutor,” warns he’d quit Milan if they sold Thiago Silva, but shocked with homophobic comments.

The talent from Bari Vecchia, among the toughest and poorest neighbourhoods in Italy, held a rare Press conference today after Italy’s 1-1 opening draw with Spain.

“Are there any gay players? Cesare Prandelli told me you’d ask that question,” said the Milan striker.

“It’s their problem. If they are gay (though he used a far more offensive Italian term, ndr), then that’s their problem.

“If I say what I really think, then there’s going to be chaos. Are there any gays in the locker room? I hope not. In any case, it’s their problem and nothing to do with me.”

This isn’t the first time there has been controversy around the issue of homosexuality in sport, as Italy Coach Prandelli wrote a foreword to a book on the subject urging openness and inclusion.

However, forward Antonio Di Natale said it would be a mistake for gay players to come out of the closet, while President of the Players’ Association Damiano Tommasi suggested they stay hidden at least until the end of their playing careers.

Cassano’s Press conference had many headline-grabbing moments, including talk about his mini-stroke and heart surgery in late October.

“I am honest, I didn’t expect to play in the Euros. Instead I was fortunate and given a reprieve. I am not here to waste time now that I have made it, as I want to be at the Euros as a protagonist.

“People say I should be a tutor to Balotelli? Well, in that case we’re in big trouble! Who is going to look after me, then?”

Balotelli wasted a great scoring opportunity against Spain when he hesitated and Prandelli said he should’ve passed it along to Cassano.

“He said he wanted to pass it to me, but I told Mario with the shot he’s got then just aim and smash the net... I call Di Natale 'The Sniper’ – give him a chance and he’ll score.

“Italy are among the favourites. After the defeat to Russia, everyone said we were a disaster. The important thing is to go forward along our path and I hope we go as far as possible.”

Cassano was also asked about his future at Milan, particularly amid rumours Thiago Silva is in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.

“I want to play well at Euro 2012, then I’ll see if I will stay at Milan or not. I have an idea about this, but I’ll only talk to some people. I’ve not heard from Ibra for a month, but if he gets angry about Thiago Silva being sold, then he’s absolutely right. It'd be criminal.

“Without Thiago Silva, at most we’d qualify for the Champions League. Besides, people should be clear with the fans. He is irreplaceable and without him we lose 50 per cent of the team. The club might consider the money coming in, but we ought to be clear.”

---------------------------------------------

Actually he used the words "froci" which means fags. This homophobic backwards side of Italy really turns me off. But then again Cassano is a dumb hillbilly so he's no reference point.
